The Shield House Inn is a bed & breakfast located in Clinton.
The Shield House Inn, circa 1916, is listed on the Historic registry as the Robert Herring House. The home was built as the private residence. Mr. Herring's daughter, Maryanna, married James Shields and inherited the house. Twin sisters Anita Green and Juanita McLamb converted the house to a bed and breakfast in 1986, naming it The Shield House Inn. In January of 2000 the Inn was purchased by current owner LeAnn Yancey. Later that year LeAnn wed Scott Mizeski and they now share innkeeper duties. The Inn is home to business travelers as well as friends and family of local residents in Clinton for special events. .some of which are held right on the premises!
Guests can enjoy a short walk downtown for browsing gift shops, jewelry and clothing stores, antique shops, and sample the offerings of locally-owned sandwich cafes.
