Microtel Inn & Suites Carolina Beach is perfect for the traveler on a budget. It's located right in the center of Carolina Beach, very close to the beach (10 minute walk or 2 minute drive) and there is a Wings right in front of it in case you need any beach supplies. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast saved us boatloads of money. They offered two types of cereal, waffles, coffee/juice, muffins, bagels and English muffins. Nothing fancy, but it was perfect for us. The hotel was clean and the pool was well-kept. One complaint: they do not wash your sheets daily. They only make your bed for you. But I think a lot of hotels are doing this now, in order to be "Eco friendly." Other than that, a really nice place for the price. Would stay here again.

Positives: Great location, great price and clean! Nice staff, good experience. Would stay here again.

Negatives: The only problem was that when we asked the maid for towels, she said we had to wait until she got to our room to clean it.

Older hotel, basic but very clean; smoking floor/room smelled of stale smoke; very friendly, helpful staff; nice continental breakfast included; conveniently located, not on the beach, but could walk there; plenty of parking.

Positives: Central location, friendly staff, not fancy but clean.

Atmosphere was friendly. The room was clean and met our expectations. Perfect for a 3 day get away. The beach was not in walking distance for kids but overall it was worth the money spent.

Negatives: Toilet was stopped up, requested it be fixed and we did it ourselves.

I would not stay at this type of hotel again. The price was great but I'm used to more cleanliness and care of rooms.

It was definitely worth the money. It was very reasonable and better than I expected. The location was great. It could be in walking distance from the beach but for young kids.

Positives: This hotel was great for the price and the staff was very friendly.

Negatives: It was overall clean, but the carpets could've been cleaner. They were not that bad, just needed a cleaning.

I was disappointed in this hotel. It was outdated and the room was not equipped with even a hair dryer though I was able to borrow one from the front desk. The room decor was harsh with bright yellow walls and multi colored bed spreads. The bathroom fixtures were in poor condition and the floor needed cleaning.

Positives: The bed was fairly comfortable.

Negatives: The room was outdated and painted bright yellow.

Hotel is in a great location if you looking for off the main strip. Restaurant across the parking lot was convenient and food was good. Continental breakfast was fair. Food seemed overly sweet and bread items cold, and stale. If you want waffles get there before the children arrive. The novelty of the waffle maker has them lined up. Not worth the wait. Front desk staff is unwelcoming. Will put the blame on you if you have a problem. Was told that I could not be helped for a problem because I didn't make the issue known soon enough. Manager on duty very friendly, professional, and helpful. Will actually listen to you.

It is a great spot for the money. Close to the beach and great restaurants. I loved it.

The Hotel was nicely furnished but damp and humid on the inside. When we asked for extra pillows the lady at the front desk did not seem to willing to help us out. She did finally round up a few pillows. We also asked for a extended checkout to enjoy the beach before showering but it was not available due to needing to clean the rooms. The visit was okay. Nothing to rave about. There were a few more hotels that we will probably stay at next time.

Negatives: Hotel was damp and musky. Very humid even with air on.

The hotel was very accommodating. I would stay there again. I enjoyed the cleanliness and proximity to the beach. Except for the checkout lady, the stay was great!

The hotel was pretty clean and staff friendly, however if you are looking for something near the ocean this isn't it. The ad states within walking distance true. Overall, the stay was OK just wished it had been closer to get to the beach.

The small clean rooms are a great value for the money. The staff members are friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was better than what some higher price hotels provide. The location was good. It was only a few minutes drive to attractions and restaurants. (There was one restaurant in walking distance.)

Positives: I loved the window seats and friendly staff!

Negatives: I did not like the room decor. It was too bright not relaxing.
