When we first drove up to the Crowne Plaza main lobby, we noticed how nice the appearance was from the entry. We didn't get to eat there, but the dining facilities looked cozy. The room was also cozy, clean and renovated; and the beds were comfortable. However, to get to our room we had to drive and find a parking since the spots were all taken and the exterior needs to be renovated like the interior, and the landscaping from our room was simply okay.

Positives: The entry for the Plaza is nicely remodeled and cozy. We were there during the Christmas Holiday and the decorations were nice and warm.

Negatives: Love the way the remodel turned out for the main lobby and the rooms are clean and beds are comfy, but the outside needs to be updated.

I do not recommend this hotel. This hotel does not deserve 3-1/2 stars. Absolutely not! If it's 2 stars or less considering the quality of the hotel, it might make sense. Also, the front desk staff even told me that I'm not supposed to ask if a king bedroom is available, since I made reservation through third party!

Positives: Hair dryer was working properly.

Negatives: Old everything, unkind staff, noise from the hallway, small bathroom, and so on.

We would not have chosen to stay here.

Positives: The shampoo and bathroom supplies.

Negatives: The hotel was poorly lit, incredibly noisy. We were very upset.

Great staff, really nice rooms with comfortable beds.

Positives: Room was great as was the porch/patio. Very well appointed room.

Negatives: Getting to it off the interstate was challenging, but not impossible.

OK

Positives: Close to downtown.

Negatives: Poor vegetarian food selection for a Vegan community like Asheville.

We had a great experience at the hotel. Great views of the mountains and a close commute to downtown. Nice, clean, quiet and friendly and helpful staff.

Positives: Great views and close to downtown.

Negatives: Slightly confusing to get onto highway from hotel.

It is not a bad deal for the price, but it is not a 3 1/2 star. The repair work on the doors was horrible looking, the carpet was very old, and the front desk stuff was indifferent towards customers. The best thing about the hotel was the concierge, easy parking, and a good gym.

Positives: Good amount of parking and the concierge was very good.

Negatives: The pool had days worth of leaves and grass in it with tables tipped over.

Heat had not been used for several months so when the room became cold (6 am) and I turned on the heat the unit gave off a lot of odor. This set off the smoke alarm and had both maintenance management and the fire department coming by to remedy the situation. Two other guests had the same experience the night before.

Positives: Very quiet but close to outside busy attractions and highways.

Negatives: Staff offered no apology or compensation for a major inconvenience...

We were just there for the night so don't have a lot of input. The room was average, but clean. Service was good for what we used them for. It was a resort and appeared to be in some sort of remodeling mode.

Positives: Clean and reasonably priced.

Negatives: Pool was closed, seemed under construction.

Reviewer: Not provided on Mon 30 Aug 2010 rated 2 out of 10.

Lot's of construction, the front desk could not tell the truth. The Internet wasn't working and I was told 4 different stories from the front desk. They were very rude. The bed was comfortable but the room had a funny smell.

Positives: Location and comfortable beds.

Negatives: Internet didn't work - front desk told for completely different stories!

Hotel is very old, but clean and adequate.

Positives: Location.

Negatives: Fire alarm malfunction 2 nights in a row at 1am.

Reviewer: Not provided on Sat 24 Jul 2010 rated 8 out of 10.

The first impression was the room. Beautiful. However the bed was too hard. anything going on outside or above the room could be heard. There was also this awful buzzing sound going off every 5 minutes. The buzzing made for a very difficult night of sleep. I never could figure out what it was.

Positives: Convenient to area attractions.

Negatives: Rooms not insulated enough, could hear everything going on.

I was a bit concerned about what my stay would be like after reading some of the other reviews. However, my room was just fine. I think the key is to call ahead and request one of the renovated rooms (as some rooms have not yet been redone yet). Bathroom was too small, I could barely close the door behind me but all else was fine. Not really a 3 1/2 star hotel, though.

Positives: Comfortable bed and central location.

Negatives: Bathroom is too small.

Reviewer: Not provided on Tue 15 Jun 2010 rated 3 out of 10.

Over priced for the room. The noise in the hallway was like they were in the room with us. A hotel past its prime.

Positives: Not much.

Negatives: Parking very limited, room had two double beds vs. a queen or king. Noisey.

The hotel was clean and up scale and they provided me a microwave for my room when I requested one. It had a small frig which was helpful to my needs. The only problem I had was the access to its location.

Positives: The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Negatives: Bathroom was a little small for a 3.5 star room.

Reviewer: Not provided on Thu 10 Jun 2010 rated 10 out of 10.

We got a super deal on this hotel, so we were extremely pleased. Even if cost was 40 to 60% higher, we would have been satisfied. We did find 3 small beetles in room. Sounds gross, but room and bath was very clean. Highly recommended.

Positives: Good location, great staff, and incredible for price.

Negatives: We kept finding small beetles in room. 3 of them.

I expected more from 3 star and above hotel I requested. There was no microwave in room and the room was a bit stuffy and small. The linen was awful and scratchy. I would not go back.

Positives: Concierge was very helpful.

Negatives: Size of the room, children's playground area, only one elevator.

Reviewer: Not provided on Wed 19 May 2010 rated 10 out of 10.

This hotel was very comfortable and conveniently located to the down town area of Asheville. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

Positives: The room was very spacious

Negatives: There was no internet connection available

The hotel was nice. I would not consider it a 3.5 star though. I did not feel safe at times inside the hotel. Some outside doors did not have secure access. An alarm was pulled at 11PM.

Positives: Comfortable bed and nice staff.

Negatives: Bad location. Felt unsafe at times.

We were satisfied with the hotel as a stopping place and we did get a good price, but I was looking for a special place for my wife's birthday. I thought that making a 3.5 star selection would provide us with a special experience, but this hotel was not as nice as many of the 3 star hotels.

Positives: Close to downtown, easy access from parking lot.

Negatives: Older hotel, definitely not a 3.5 star hotel.

Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 14 May 2010 rated 8 out of 10.

This hotel is obviously an older property that is being refurbished and amenities are being added. Seems that it is more of a golf or tennis destination but has some nice features that anyone can enjoy. The only negative from my trip is that I was not notified that I was being placed on a pet friendly floor. heard dogs barking quite often.

Positives: Room was very nice and staff was accommodating.

Negatives: I was not aware that a hotel of this caliber was "pet friendly" especially on the priority club floor!

Our room was not ready until 7 pm, and even then the crib we had requested was not in our room. They also put us in a room far away from the elevator so traveling with baby items was difficult. The staff did not seem concerned with making our stay pleasant. For a resort setting the pool was not open in May in the south.

Positives: Had a nice sink area that helped in making bottles

Negatives: Ccrib not ready, staff not friendly, pool not open.

Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 14 May 2010 rated 5 out of 10.

They are a resort in the making. My room had some issue of grainy/poor TV reception but a nice big screen. The heating unit smelled like something was burning when you turned it on so we had a chilly room. I did not complain for the price I got the room for. Overall I was happy with it. I prefer a sink outside the toilet area but it was not set up that way. Also the patio door was very hard to slide open and the lamps would turn on or off at random times.

Positives: Clean room with nice linens.

Negatives: Location was difficult to get in and out of.

Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 14 May 2010 rated 10 out of 10.

Resort has friendly staff. It is an old style Southern resort that has been maintained and modern. Great restaurants, 16 tennis courts, convention center. We would go back.

Positives: It is a high end golf and tennis resort.

Negatives: Golf course is only nine holes.

Reviewer: Not provided on Thu 13 May 2010 rated 8 out of 10.

Staff was helpful. It is reasonably close to the downtown area but you can only exit one way which was not ideal.

Positives: Free WiFi, AM coffee and gym.

Negatives: Poor lighting. Room was on the first floor elevator knocked on the exterior door one night.

The hotel is tired and old, we had to go in through a back entrance, looks like service entrance to the swing doors look like service doors, the room is big but old fashioned, bathroom very cramped, cheap coffee in room, restaurant is outdated, food is very bland and seems like frozen and warmed up, not a pleasant area, very disappointed, have stayed at Crowne Plaza before. This is not a resort, they did not valet the luggage or offer to valet car, very basic hotel.

Positives: Big room thats it.

Negatives: Restaurant was very out dated, food was frozen, not good.

Reviewer: Not provided on Wed 12 May 2010 rated 6 out of 10.

The hotel lobby, pool, meetings areas, etc., had an upscale feel, but the room itself did not. It seemed like a clean, no frills hotel room, but certainly not a room I'd expect at a 4 star "resort" hotel.

Positives: The sheets were soft and clean.

Negatives: The location was horrible.

Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 07 May 2010 rated 9 out of 10.

The hotel is a quick drive from downtown, very comfortable and has very nice reception staff.

Positives: Priceline price was awesome.

Negatives: When we left a book, their lost and found was inconsistent and generally unhelpful.

Reviewer: Not provided on Sun 25 Apr 2010 rated 5 out of 10.

The room and bathroom was shabby. The wallpaper was dirty and peeling. Hotel looks like a 3.5 star in the lobby and and a 2 star in the hallways and rooms. Would not stay there again.

Positives: The lobby, bar/restaurant and common areas were attractive and comfortable.

Negatives: The room/bathroom was not very clean.

Amazing place and a great price. I arrived late at night and the staff was friendly and helpful. I got my room very quickly. It was a gorgeous!

Positives: Beautiful room.

Negatives: Room faced the parking lot.
