Thistledome is a gracious Southern Mansion built in 1840 and expanded by wealthy Byhalians. The home is decorated to reflect the later years of the Victorian era in the South. Antiques and reproductions accentuate the home. Rooms have been decorated to bring out the home’s charm and character. All of the rooms have the original coal burning fireplaces. The windows and doors have been carefully restored to show off early craftsmanship. Wallpapers and fabrics are reminiscent of old Southern styles. The gardens are filled with plants and statuary used in old Southern gardens - azaleas, camellias, hydrangea, wisteria and the like. White columns too many to count, wrap around porches, brick lined rose gardens, meadows with huge old trees, acres of cut green lawn all help to give Thistledome just the right romantic setting.
