Once upon a time in Montrose, a rustic log cabin rested on the current site of what is now the Butterfly Inn. Built in 1910, this large Victorian home, named the Sherman U. Stacy house, was the centerpiece of a huge homesteaded farm and served as a hub of action in the old trading community.

In 2002, Senada and Al Zakariasen bought the site and spent 3 years restoring it. Now, the Butterfly Inn fulfills their life-long dream of operating a B&B, and offering a setting for guests to relax, get rejuvenated and to simply have fun.

Additional details

All of our rooms have private showers and new luxurious mattresses adorned with the finest bedding. Gorgeous original hardwood floors enhance the beauty and warmth of the peaceful spaces.

Garden room - Has a lovely highboard Victorian queen-size bed and garden motifs galore.

The Blue Sunrise Room - Has a bed frame dated back to 1873. This room offers a huge soaking tub for your enjoyment.

Suite Dream Room - This is our largest room with a king-size bed, leaded glass windows and a private sun porch that faces beautiful evening colors.

Rose Room - This room is filled with roses everywhere you look! It has two twin beds with beautiful handmade crocheted covers, and a shower and sink.

Amenities

Montrose, an 1800-era trading mecca for pioneers and farmers, is located just one hour west of the Twin Cities on Highway 12. Today, it still offers the quiet ambiance of verdant soy and corn fields plus several businesses, churches and restaurants. . The Butterfly Inn is near some state parks with numerous lakes, rivers, bike routes and ski trails nearby. Montrose is also in the heart of some great antiquing, with shops scattered around many local towns. Golfing is also available in nearby Buffalo.
