Overall I would recommend this hotel because our room was ready early and they honored our request for a room with a view of Lake Superior.

Positives: Conveniently located, helpful attentive staff, nice beds which were attractively made, gave us view requested.

Negatives: No microwave in room or available except through hotel staff. hot tub looked uninviting.

This hotel is nice, but our first night here we were put in a smoking one tiny bed, one tiny room, by the pool, that was very noisy. We asked if we could be switched for a non-smoking room with two beds and were told they did not have any available, but then one of the workers was on the phone and told them they had rooms with two beds non-smoking available for that night. Very frustrating! I have allergies, so the smoking room was really bad on my allergies, and I was miserable all night. They did switch us to a non smoking two bed room the second night and that was nice. But it wasn't an over the top hotel. The pool area was very noisy and could be heard in our room the first night.

Positives: The location was nice, the staff was friendly.

Negatives: First night we stayed in a tiny room with one bed that was smoking (I have allergies, so was not good). The switched rooms for us the next night.

Negatives: Room close to the pool,.but luckily weekday not to much noise.

Although it is a very nice, clean hotel, the parking ramp entry is a little confusing as you enter up the ramp on the left side, and the entry is obscured from the street on approach. The parking ramp space is a little cramped for a full size pickup. The elevators are very slow even though there is a group of three.

Positives: It is right downtown of Duluth with many business's to use.

Negatives: It's claimed to be waterfront which I do not agree with as there are at least 4 or 5 buildings between it and the water, although you can see water.

If you want quiet, do not stay in the atrium part of the hotel. Music comes on at eight and noisy. If you have kids I would imagine it would be a good part of the hotel to stay in.

Positives: Convenient to downtown Duluth.

Negatives: Cleaning staff did not do a good job. A candy was on the bathroom floor when we arrived and was still there when we left.

Nicely appointed rooms and staff, located in close proximity to major tourist attractions.

Positives: Close proximity to leisure and tourist activities.

Negatives: Nothing that I disliked enough to be critical.

The hotel is rather shabby; our AC was extremely noisy, the attached tub liner was filthy, there was only one pouch of coffee, the towels were frayed. There were lots of people dressed very casually or in dripping bathing suits wandering all over this maze-like hotel. We're glad that we had the Priceline price as the hotel certainly is not worth the price quoted to customers right beside us as we checked in.

Positives: Bed was comfortable.

Negatives: It was rather shabby, very noisy and very maze-like.

For what I payed through Priceline, it was a decent deal.

Positives: Because I am a rewards customer I was treated with extra care.

Negatives: Too many people, slamming doors, slow elevators.

It was good, and I would stay there again if I'm in town.

Positives: Location was good for down town activities.

Negatives: You waited along time for the elevators because of kids fooling around.

We only spent one night in the hotel and only slept there. We did not eat in any of the restaurants and did not use any of the facilities. For our purpose, the hotel was acceptable, but we found the property to be dark and dingy and in need of refurbishment.

Positives: Very convenient location.

Negatives: Hotel is overdue for refurbishment.

Our room was never cleaned after first day, we had to ask for clean towels, and clean glasses. There was something spilled all over one of the beds. Looked like coffee. Just not a good experience at all!

Positives: Location and the food close by.

Negatives: How clean it was and maid service.

Hotel is located prety much centrally in downtown duluth. Close to the depot area , and excellent dining within reasonable walking distance to Canal Park.

Positives: Location was within 4 blocks of our entertainment site.

Negatives: can't think of any negatives.

It is very poorly laid out. The bathroom was dirty no light cover on the light fixture above the sink, bed side lamp didn't work, no clear signage for parking ramp access. Elevators were slow and not every user friendly.

Positives: The location.

Negatives: The room as hard to get to, bathroom dirty, light fixture didn't work.

The staff that we dealt with were very friendly, the pools were very nice and for our use, the location was very good. We have a son who lives in the area. We had dinner at the sports bar and it was very good, I recommend the cheeseburger platter.

Positives: The staff was super friendly, the rooms were very clean, and shower and towels great.

Negatives: Breakfast is not included in cost of the room.

Clean.

Positives: Free parking in the parking lot, ramp attached to hotel, also shops in the same building.

Negatives: Very confusing to get to the lobby through the ramp.

I was there for a very short time, less than 12 hours, so what I saw was very good, but didn't see alot.

Negatives: No continental breakfast.

Rooms were clean, bed was comfortable and staff was very helpful and attentive and free parking for hotel guests.

Positives: Clean, had a mini fridge and front desk clerk was very good.

Negatives: Must have been some after hours parties going on but we were tucked away in an alcove.

Great location for business travel. Room was clean. Staff was nice. Public areas need some care.

Positives: Location and inside walk ways to convention center and shopping areas.

Negatives: Dirty public areas.

A great hotel for the price. Clean and friendly. The only downfall was the really slow elevators.

Positives: The hotel had a nice pool and hot tub. The room was non-smoking and the hotel had an attached garage.

Negatives: The elevators in the hotel were extremely slow.

The hotel was very nice and very accessible to everything we needed to do in Duluth.

Positives: The service by Blake Naber was terrific.

Negatives: We were closed to the pool. It was loud, but it was okay.

Reviewer: Not provided on Tue 19 Jan 2010 rated 2 out of 10.

The front desk would not give us a nonsmoking room. They said that Priceline does not guarantee a nonsmoking room. They said there was a convention at the hotel and no nonsmoking rooms were available.

Positives: Location and price.

Negatives: Did not give us a nonsmoking room even though one was available.

I would not recommend staying at the Holiday Inn - Duluth location. There were very few restaurants that stayed open on the weekends and the downtown looked depressing. We had to fight to get a non-smoking room and the facility was just okay overall. The location was connected via skyway but nothing was open in the skyway on the weekend. I would recommend Fitgers or perhaps the Inn on Lake Superior over this hotel.

Positives: The pool.

Negatives: Poor selection of restaurants the downtown was run down.

The overall experience was really nice. When we first arrived there were screaming kids next door. We called the front desk and within 5 minutes security was at our door asking what he could do to help. The front desk went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. Do not try to upgrade. We tried to get a room with a king-sized bed and were not able to.

Positives: Very attentive and friendly staff. Convenient location and dining.

Negatives: Walls are paper thin.
