I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It was old, musty, and just plain needed remodeling on the 3rd floor where we were given a room. Also, I suggest not checking in at 9pm at night, maybe that would alleviate the issue of the clerk giving you a handicapped room, old floor, and dogs barking around you. We were too tired to deal with it. Also, they charged us for something out of the mini bar of which we didn't even touch. You also had to pay for parking. Unbelievable place. Lobby was updated as well as the restaurant. Rooms leave something to be desired. Sorry, bad experience...hopefully just a bad day.

Positives: Lobby was updated.

Negatives: Parking fee, gave us a handicapped room when we didn't need one!! Also, dogs barked all night.

I rated this hotel 8, 9 or 10 in every category of this survey except for the overall rating which I rated 2 because we had to pay $11 a day for parking and has to pay for Internet service. The Internet service was not such an issue, but the parking costs were an additional expense that I had not factored into my bid.

Positives: Nice, clean, and very helpful staff.

Negatives: We had to pay for parking and Internet service.

For outside this hotel was beautiful. When we arrive we are told that we must use parking garage and are told its 11 dollars a day. (pretty pricey for parking.) Every night we tried to eat dinner there around 9pm at restaurant which they closed at 10pm. There was no-one to seat us waited over 10 min and left.

Positives: Room was clean.

Negatives: Pricing, parking.

I had a confirmed reservation for this hotel. Showed up at night, ready to go to sleep and front desk tells me that they overbooked and are offering an alternative accommodation 45 minutes away (out of city, in the middle of nowhere). I asked to speak to a manager, who said they had flooding and my room got flooded, which I could tell was not true. Westin simply de-prioritized me. He offered no solution, beside calling a cab for me, which would take another 20-30 minutes. I decided to walk away, got my own cab and ended up sleeping on my friend's couch. I hope I'll eventually get my money back.

Positives: Nothing.

Negatives: Everything - manager was not very helpful and offered no workable solution. Ended up sleeping on my friend's couch.

We have stayed there twice now. It is very comfortable and safe and convenient. The food is good. We enjoyed the lounge. Atmosphere is very pleasant.

Positives: Amenities especially the Starbucks coffee and tea in room.

Negatives: No free wifi.

The Westin has a reputation of being a great hotel, however each time I have stayed (Boston twice and Waltham) they do not come close to a high standard. The hotel is dirty. The shower is gross. The showerheads, which they claim to be fantastic are absolutely nothing special. The comforter had a huge stain, which appeared to be old blood. Absolutely appalling. The additional furniture, including a chair in the room was absolutely filthy. The desk was extremely dusty. And the TV is the least user friendly TV I have ever used in a hotel.
Positives: The room service dessert was great.

Negatives: The bathroom, not very clean and the shower was gross. The chair was dirty. Just dirty.

Well located both from a Waltham area perspective, as well as downtown Boston and airport. Short drive to airport, and downtown.

Positives: Beautiful hotel, well located for my business trip. Home office is in Waltham.

Negatives: Nothing I could find.

Really disappointed that we weren't notified about the parking fee - $11. This is the first time I've had to pay to park at a suburban hotel.

Positives: The location was perfect - a 15 minute ride to Cambridge.

Negatives: Being charged for parking at the hotel - at a suburban location.

It doesn't compare with other 4 star hotels that I have stayed in any where in the country.

Positives: Lobby is nice.

Negatives: Needs renovations.

Satisfactory hotel. Great beds. Not great lobby.

Positives: Great bed.

Negatives: Ground floor space and feel.

Hotel is beautiful, front desk staff is a bit snooty.

Positives: Main lobby area is beautiful.

Negatives: Lobby was extremely loud at night.

The hotel is within short driving distance from Boston. This hotel is in need of renovation. The wallpaper was peeling from the walls and the bathroom has a very dated look. Parking should be complimentary as this is a suburb of Boston, not downtown Boston. Furthermore, the business center should be complimentary.

Positives: Within a short driving distance from Boston.

Negatives: Parking should be complimentary and the Fun Zone was not well stocked with children's toys.

The hotel was awesome, however, I should have been notified about the parking fees. The parking fees added 20% to my room rate. Also, the hotel should notify guests upon arrival that the mini bar is electronically controlled and just touching items will generate a charge. All charges were deleted from my bill upon checkout, however, we had to ask them to do that.

Positives: Very comfortable.

Negatives: Parking fee.

Comfortable, good location for travelers, good rooms friendly staff and our dinner was not great at all.

Positives: The rooms were nice clean and comfortable.

Negatives: No shop in the hotel was in renovation, we needed anti allergy medicines hotel didn't have.

The room and hotel were
very clean.

Positives: Very clean hotel and good quality.

Negatives: No coffee available in lobby for guests.

Room was nice enough - contained a refrigerator that was unplugged. Cannot understand why they had you pay $9 a day to park your car in their ramp - this place wasn't in the middle of a big city. Spent almost $30 on an entree in the hotel restaurant and walked out of there hungry.

Positives: Double shower head was nice.

Negatives: Ceiling in room had large spot that looked like water leaked from above.

Overall the hotel is excellent. The beds are the best I have found at any hotel. The pool, hot tub and exercise room were excellent, uncrowned and very clean. The service staff was also very helpful and sent out faxes for us at no cost. The only complaint we had was the cost of parking.

Positives: The beds, pool and hot tub were all excellent.

Negatives: Charging for parking in the suburbs is a little tacky.

This was my 2nd stay at this hotel, the people working there are nice, the place is clean, I would rate it 4 stars. I came with a group of 7 people, they let us use a conference to have our own poker game, it's a nice place. The only downside was paying $9 a night for parking, so overall I'll stay there again.

Positives: Clean, friendly and price was great!

Negatives: They charge for parking!

We found that the hotel even though asked for two double beds, it had no double rooms for us. They had sold them to attendees from a wedding that was having a reception there. We ended up sleeping 3 in a full size bed with a twin cot wedged into the room for the 4th. The cot had to be half propped onto a chair since there was no place to put it flat in the room. They would not help us with placing the cot and had to be called twice to deliver extra pillows and blankets. Somewhat outside the hotels control, but clearly there had been a heavy smoker in the room and the room reeked of smoke, despite being a non-smoking room. Also anytime any room near us used any plumbing fixture the pipes in our room would moan and squeal till you went into the bathroom and turned the sink faucets on and off. Overall a truly poor experience for such a high end hotel.

Positives: Nice appearance.

Negatives: Overbooked, could not accommodate. No offer to compensate.

It was our second stay this year. Both were positive experiences but surprised that a business travel hotel would charge for room access to the Internet, very European and cheap. Most other hotels, including 3 star offer Internet access in the room as complementary. Also, the complementary Internet access at this hotel was inoperable on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Positives: Covered parking.

Negatives: Complementary internet access inoperable.

Although the lobby and restaurants were beautiful and inviting, the room was average (heavenly bed was as expected, wonderful) and the bathroom was tired and needed updating (cracked marble, small size but clean). I usually choose Westin when traveling as they are always a great choice but this one was just ok. You could tell that it was previously another hotel.

Positives: Extremely friendly & helpful staff.

Negatives: Drab, tired bathroom.

The pool and hot tub area needs updating and the chlorine smell was so strong you couldn't stay in the room. I found it hard to believe that they charged 9 dollars a night for parking. You expect that in Downtown Boston, but not in Waltham.

Positives: Starbucks coffee, but if you wanted an additional packet, that was also extra.

Negatives: This hotel charged you extra for everything from parking to internet to telephone.

Old rooms. Heat/AC was in need of service and rattled every time it turned on. Had to stuff towels in various places to stop it from waking me up! Mirror in bathroom came off wall in my hand.

Positives: Location is good.

Negatives: Pay for parking in the suburbs.

When we first entered our room I was very unhappy. It was not what we requested. I called the front desk to explain that we had 1 queen size bed and we requested 2 beds. My husband and I were traveling with our 2 children and we would never have requested 1 bed. When I spoke on the phone with the staff they claimed there was nothing they could do and they did not have any other rooms. It wasn't until my husband and I went to the front desk that they were by a streak of luck able to change our room.

Positives: Pictures of the lobby and the pool area did not reflect the real thing.

Negatives: It was clean.

I am likely to return to this hotel. I enjoyed my stay- it was clean and professional looking. The staff was helpful and the check in/out times was minimal. The only unpleasant event was encountering the beer drinking rednecks that knock the chairs down and speak very loudly, seeking attention of all the guests.

Positives: Very clean and pleasant, quick check in and check out, everything went very smoothly.

Negatives: Trashy and loud younger people (the beer drinking type).

I've stayed here several times now and of the other Waltham Hotels I've stayed at, it works well for me as a business traveler. Paying for parking is a bummer. Also, the bathrooms are a bit hit and miss in terms of cleanliness - they could use a remodel.

Positives: The hotel is fairly consistent throughout. It is definitely one of the nicer hotel's in the area. It works well for me as a business traveler.
