This is a pleasant hotel that was adequate for our stay, while moving a college student into his apartment. It seemed expensive, and not quite at the star level I would have expected, for a 3 star hotel. There were small things wrong in the room, which needed fixing. The quality of bedding, furniture and room itself was not anything special. It is well located in downtown Boston. The breakfast buffet is expensive, although you can choose to eat for less off the menu.

Positives: The hotel was comfortable and staff was extremely pleasant.

Negatives: It did not feel like it was described- a "fung shei" hotel, with exotic atmosphere. It was very regular.

Hotel is clean and comfort except there are cups left outside our room when we open the door, staff are friendly but forgot give us welcome cookies which my 8 years old son kept asking. Over all we had very good experience.

Positives: Location is excellent

Negatives: Stuff didn't give us welcome cookie which my son who is 8 yrs old kept asking me why.

Located across from Tuft's Medical School, this hotel is great for business travelers and those who are interested in fitness as a YMCA is attached to hotel and free for guests. Hotel is only a few blocks from Boston Commons and subway train. Great value.

Positives: Beautiful YMCA attached to hotel and free for guests!

Negatives: Parking is expensive--I parked on the street instead.

This is a nice hotel to stay, either way business or pleasure. The rooms are very clean, staff friendly. I love the way
I can use the gym next door.

Positives: The staff is nice, friendly and helpful, rooms and hotel very clean.

Negatives: TV channels and they charged for Internet service.

Would definitely stay there again. Close to subway and eating places. Very clean and staff was very helpful. Room was too small for a family of 4 but perfect for one or two. Quietest room I have ever stayed in. Great buy.

Positives: Very clean and quiet. Staff was great. Loved it.

Negatives: Rooms were somewhat small if more than one person was staying in them.

I like the hotel as it is a good buy for the price. Parking is expensive, 38/night, but the T is right there and its great if you need to be at Tufts Medical Center.

Positives: Great cookies.

Negatives: Ridiculous parking fee.

No workout facilities in building but Wang YMCA is next door. Pool is open till 9 PM.

Positives: Location & price.

Negatives: No Hilton Honors points.

When you go to a hotel like Doubletree, you expect a certain ambient. We were sent to a very small room, with views to an indoor storage with a container, a bathroom with a very small shower and no tub. We had to ask to moved and we were moved to a nicer room, with views to an indoor garden and a regular size tub. It is definitely a business economical hotel. Don't consider it for a romantic get away under any circumstances but it is conveniently located.

Positives: The hotel has a great location.

Negatives: Small, dark rooms.

After a long painful night of unexpectedly having to stay in town, a new friend let us use their computer. We were introduced to Priceline, where we got this hotel. Let me just say that the cookie greeting put an end to all of our troubles, as funny as it sounds. The staff
was pleasant, professional, friendly, and even tried to help us get the same rate for the next night. I loved the fact you recycle. It was spotless.

Positives: The price, the location, the staff&the treatment were superb. It was what I needed.

Negatives: Nothing

The hotel is nice for the price. The carpet on the steps leading to the hotel was soiled - not a good way to greet guests, although a sign in the elevator said it was being replaced throughout. One big complaint: the website advertised a pool and hot-tub, but failed to mention that they are actually located next door in the public YMCA - we went to look and quickly chose not to use those facilities. The floor plan in the hallways is confusing and snakes around to dead-ends, but once you know the way to your room there is no problem. The front desk pleasantly accommodated all of our requests.

Positives: The king room was spacious and comfortable.

Negatives: The carpeting in common areas needs replacing.

Overall the Doubletree is your standard 3 star hotel. Rooms are large and comfortable. The food is pretty average. As for the location its a little off the beaten path, a short walk to downtown but next to a hospital. Also the building layout is very weird and consists of several buildings all pieced together.

Positives: Large rooms.

Negatives: Location.

I had no issues, the only thing I didn't like was there didn't have a fridge. Also, parking was too expensive.

Positives: Very close to Boston, very convenient.

Negatives: It didn't have a fridge.

Clean, quiet and great location.

Positives: Location.

Negatives: No fridge or micro wave. You need to loose cash-mini bar/snack crap.

Clean, efficient, conveniently located, though not the best area for kids to be walking around at night (area around Chinatown/theater district still has a few street walkers etc.)

Positives: My son says the doubletree cookies - clean room.

Negatives: The pool was actually the next door YMCA.

Loved the Sweet Dreams pillows and mattresses. The staff (with one exception) was exceedingly friendly and helpful. Late checkout was a snap. As always, the chocolate chip cookies were addictive. The housekeeping staff respected our do not disturb sign, and also respected our wishes to minimize towel and sheet waste. Also, free access to the YMCA gym is a huge plus. Weaknesses include the cramped business center (which has no desk space for guests carrying their own laptops), lack of free Wi-Fi in the rooms, and complicated Wi-Fi interface in the public areas. The Starbucks is not Wi-Fi enabled, and does not honor the Starbucks card free refills.

Positives: The front desk was helpful, intelligent.

Negatives: The business center won't satisfy business needs - convoluted printer interface, slow internet connections, and cramped space.

Good location near Chinatown and Boston commons. Theater district is about 2 blocks away. Moderately clean. Internet access was not free (about $10 per day). No microwave and refrigerator for free use.

Positives: Good location.

Negatives: Staff was

Great place. Received warm cookie upon check-in and pillows were comfortable. This was much better stay that I was expecting. Would recommend it to others.

Positives: Neutrogena products in bathroom and mini bar in room.

Negatives: No one to help with bags when valet parking prior to checking in.

This is a very nice, reasonably priced hotel. It's in a good location for walking around and exploring the area. Local stores easy access. Hotel staff very nice & accommodating. I will return to this hotel.

Positives: Clean, good location, very polite & helpful staff.

Negatives: Probably the elevator set-up. I got lost coming out of ground elevator.

Very nice hotel in a good location near hospital.

Positives: Location to hospital.

Negatives: Room was a bit musty smelling - had someone smoked there in past.

Reviewer: Not provided on Wed 28 Jan 2009 rated 8 out of 10.

The hotel was easily accessible for me and the guests that visited me during my stay. Very comfortable, clean, and never smelled like any smokers had ever been there.

Positives: The front staff was very open and accommodating to my requests.

Negatives: Why should I have to pay for wireless web in the room?

Overall a pleasant stay, clean, friendly, comfortable.

Positives: Very comfy bed, huge bathroom, warm cookie.

Negatives: Had to pay for safe,

No need to. It looked nice and that staff was very friendly however our room already had dirty glasses in front of the door and when we walked in it smelt like cigarettes. Not to mention the mini bar had not been filled since the last people stayed which obviously was about 5 minutes before we got there. Nice on the outside.

Positives: They gave you a warm cookie before going to your room.

Negatives: There were dirty glasses outside our door and the room smelt like cigarettes.

The Doubletree Hotel - Downtown Boston is another example of a top tier brand whose properties are badly in need of remodel to maintain the brand standards. While the lobby, bar, and open areas met my expectations, except for the creaky floors, antiquated bathroom, and older model TV.

Positives: The location was ideal.

Negatives: The facility needs a great deal of work.
