Located on the tidal Damariscotta River, the Flying Cloud has lovely views of the busy working water front. Pemiquid Point Lighthouse and Fort William Henry are 15 miles down the Pemiquid peninsula. Or if you prefer, travel on picturesque River Road 15 miles in the other direction to Boothbay Harbor and the beautiful new Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. If shopping is your "bag", it's a quick 35 minutes south to Freeport and L. L. Bean as well as the outlets.

Looking for art? The Farnsworth Art Museum is in Rockland, 25 minutes north. Round Pond is home to the Library Art Studio and Peapod Jewelery, exquisitely designed and hand made jewelry by Ronna Lugosch.
