Castine Harbor Lodge
Castine, Maine
Castine Harbor Lodge is a bed & breakfast located in Castine.
The Castine Harbor Lodge was built in 1893 by Col. A.K. Bolan of New York City and was later owned by Clarence Wooley, President of American Radiator Co. of New York City. It is a commodious Lodge with superb water frontage, and its rooms command wonderful, waterfront views.
There are 250 feet of porches facing the ocean, one covered, one open, and one glassed in. The porches overlooking Penobscot Bay and distant Camden Hills offer a peaceful, waterfront setting to enjoy your favorite book, paint or simply take in views of seals, osprey, boats, or a star filled sky.
The local waters are favorite cruising spots for both yachts and the Maine windjammer fleet. The area offers several excursion boats, hiking, and sea kayaking.
There is a beach offering swimming (not for the faint of heart) or a place to launch your canoe or sea kayak. We offer ample dock space for yachts of any size as well as guest moorings.
The Castine island area is host to theatre, summer concerts at Kneisel Hall, quality shops, art galleries, antiques, Maine Maritime Academy and fine restaurants. Centrally located between Camden and Bar Harbor, the Lodge offers a quiet and convenient place to stay. The historic British Canal (dug in the 18th Century to escape an American invasion) defines the island.
In Castine, we have one of the oldest nine hole golf courses in the country, a tennis club (clay courts), yacht club, Dyces Head Lighthouse and many historic walking trails. Working fishing villages, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Camden, and Isle au Haut are all lovely day trips accessible from the Lodge.
You can end your day relaxing on a sun soaked porch or before a warm cozy fire in our living room.
Castine Harbor Lodge is the perfect place for weddings, receptions, reunions, banquets, conferences and corporate retreats.
Places to eat within 5km of Castine Harbor Lodge include Dennett's Wharf Restaurant & Oyster Br From Blue Hill Castine Se, The Breeze, Reef Restaurant Sea, and The Captain’s Catch.
