MAPLE UNCOMMON HOTEL is a wonderful gathering place in downtown Columbus, Kansas. Housed in a building originally built in 1914 as Sleases Department Store, it was a J.C.Penney store for 55 years. The original sculptured tin ceiling graces its expansive two story atrium lobby. Today rich oak flooring, comfortable furniture, books, fresh green plants, and ever-changing art exhibits create a warm welcome for hotel guests, social events, meetings, and in-house catered meals.

* 201 and *203 are the two standard rooms. Each has a queen-size bed and both are on the second floor at the front of the building. Suites vary in style and accommodations. Generally they are more than twice the size of standard rooms, with a leisure area for watching television.
*101 is the “bridal suite”; it has a king-size bed and a day bed that can be made up as a twin. The rate is $98 and $10.00 more to make the day bed up for sleeping. The décor is pastels.
*103 is the largest suite; it has a king-size bed, a queen-size bed, and room for a day bed that can be made up as a twin. The rate is $125, plus an additional $10.00 if the day bed is made up for sleeping. The décor is champagne and aqua.
Both 101 and 103 are at the front of the building and feature the display windows original to J C Penney days.
*102 is at the rear of the building with large glass block windows; it has a queen-size bed and a day bed that can be made up as a twin. The rates are $88/1 person, $98/2 people and $10.00 more to make the day bed up for sleeping. The décor is Southwest.
*204 is at the rear of the building on the second floor; it has a queen-size bed and a large pit group sofa, where two small children can sleep comfortably. The rates are $78/1 person, $88/2 people. The décor is more masculine, with nature prints.
*202 is at the rear of the building on the other side on the second floor; it has a queen-size bed and a queen-size sofa sleeper. The rates are $78/1 person, $88/2 people in the bed, and $10.00 more to make the sofa bed up for sleeping. The décor is soothing blue and gray.
