Cumberland is a small town on the eastern edge of Indianapolis, Indiana that is split between Hancock and Marion counties in the state of Indiana. Located on the historic National Road, now US Route 40, the town is well known as the last stopover before Indianapolis when traveling from the east. Cumberland has a rich transportation history not only with the National Road, but also as a stop along the interurban to Indianapolis, The Pennsylvania Railroad once brought travelers and transported farmers crops and livestock to Cumberland.
