We were pleasantly surprised with the entire area of the resort. The lobby was so very inviting for all. Staff was very friendly & helpful. The food was excellent, especially the Sun' brunch. We would like to return in the summer to swing the clubs. We can only imagine how peaceful & alive with nature the resort would be once all of the trees are full of leaves. We would enjoy sitting outside under the tent behind the resort, it sure looked inviting over our stay 3/27/10, the weather was perfect. See you again.
Positives: The surroundings beautiful, hiking/biking trails were just enough challenging, the spa very relaxing.
Negatives: Really I don't have any negative commnets.

We love the resort and villas due to our history of getting engaged in Galena.
Positives: Romantic, the place where we got engaged.
Negatives: Sofa bed by fireplace did not open up as we are accustomed to.

Our room was upgraded because of a wedding reception. The staff was so friendly and willing to help. I liked that it was all inclusive even with a general store and gas station if you needed it. We will be staying here again. Thank you it was great!
Positives: The scenery was outstanding!
Negatives: Loved it all.

My husband and I recently traveled through Galena and spent two nights at Eagle Ridge. We were thrilled that they allowed our dog to stay for a minor price. It's hard to find nice accommodations for you and your pet while traveling. The resort grounds are beautiful with miles of walking paths through the woods and around the lake. It was serene and peaceful; we would highly recommend to others.

We stayed in the Settlement and I feel it was not really worth the price. I took it as a romantic get away and it turned out to be more of a family/business retreat place.
Positives: The scenery was amazing.
Negatives: The price.

Staff was great, Woodland restaurant was great, hotel room and AC not working properly, musty/damp smell that wouldn't go away, carpet was worn and frayed, furnishings looked dated and old.
Positives: Views.
Negatives: Musty smell, dated furnishings.

Pleasant atmosphere and attentive staff. Everyone was friendly. The wedding parties were noisy and distracting however.

Great scenery. Friendly staff. Great food. Free and cheap rentals for activities. No matter what kind of traveler you are, this place has something to accommodate you. We are a married couple on a mini vacation for our anniversary. We are looking to return with family/friends.
Positives: Scenery. Activities. Food. Staff. Free activities. 5 star spa.
Negatives: Room was dingy compared to rest of hotel.

I would not recommend staying at the inn at this hotel. The rooms smelled like mold and my husband's allergies started acting up. It just felt dirty! This is not what a resort should be categorized as. The balcony was old, no light, and spider & wasp nets all over the beams. The room had no mini bar or refrigerator to store anything in. The resort needs to be remodeled and updated to today's standards. The pool is comparable to a Holiday Inn pool, no of a resort nature. I had to pay $18.00 a day for a resort conveyance charge which included a newspaper, to use the pool, etc of which we did not use....plus taxes of $14.00 a day. As for the spa, I have been to many spas and the atmosphere was just ok. We got a couples massage and frankly my back hurt more leaving the session. Stay away.
Positives: Great if you liked to golf.
Negatives: Dirty.

Very comfortable beds, nicely decorated rooms, very clean. Wi-Fi in the rooms was appreciated. Only drawback was you have to go outside to get to the main lodge and restaurants.
Positives: I loved the fireplaces, the pool, the "movies in tabbies".
Negatives: No hot tub. Really needed this a day after skiing!

We spent the Thanksgiving holiday here and while the location was wonderful, the room and the Thanksgiving buffet were disappointing. The room was tired, the carpet disgustingly spotted. Had we not already moved in before noticing the bugs on the walls and ceiling we would have requested a room change. Instead we just kept squashing bugs through our 3 night stay. The Thanksgiving buffet was mediocre. The drive to and from the resort was beautiful.
Positives: Beautiful location in open spaces.
Negatives: Tired room, dirty carpet, bugs.

It is taken care of, and the people are very friendly. The accommodations of hiking, swimming, golfing have something for everyone. We wished we would have booked 2 nights instead of 1. I'll be back, though.
Positives: The view is unbelievable, very serene.
Negatives: I wished they put us higher up. The lower level did not have a ramp for rolling the suitcases.

Nice location, beautiful scenery, but amenities are expensive i.e.. food, drink, etc. More for couples than families. Dinner for 4 at the golf course restaurant Spikes cost $70. bit expensive. They cater to the Chicago crowd for sure,
Positives: Surrounding scenery.
Negatives: Every little thing cost so much,$35 for 2 7"pizzas and 2 sandwiches
