Overall, we were very pleased with the Blackstone Renaissance. The room was very up to date, trendy and clean. The staff were very helpful, and the gym was in excellent shape as well. The only thing I would have liked that the hotel did not have was a hotel bar.

Positives: I appreciated the upgrades and trendy decor.

Negatives: I would have liked to have access to a hotel bar.

Beautiful hotel, helpful staff. Parking costs are prohibitive.

Positives: The bathroom was large and lovely.

Negatives: Parking was too expensive.

I was told before arriving that I could have 2 beds if available. Upon arrival there were 2 beds available, but I would be charged $30 plus fees for each night to have 2 beds. I have never had to pay extra to have 2 beds as it is the same price to have 1 King or 2 double beds. Very annoyed and a crappy way to start out our trip.

Positives: Clean.

Negatives: Extra fees were added on at check-in to get 2 beds.

Positives: Quality.

Negatives: No pool.

This hotel is convenient to the business for shopping and site seeing. The room was nice with fridge, safe, and coffee pot. Loved the bathroom/shower. The bed was extremely comfortable. We would love to stay there again. There is no pool in this hotel, but the fitness room was nice.

Positives: It was very convenient to the bus lines, all the employees were friendly and helpful. Nice decor.

Negatives: Could not get on the WiFi service.

This hotel is a beautiful downtown historical building. It has a great location and lovely rooms. The restaurant is fabulous and the convenience of Starbucks in the morning without ever having to leave the hotel is awesome. Plus, the El is just around the corner. Only downside is no pool.

Positives: It's very pretty and close to everything you could want in Chicago.

Negatives: No pool and our corner room was smaller than the others.

Positives: It was a very classy hotel.

Negatives: The lobby carpet was odd.

Historical Chicago.

Positives: History. Proximity of loop. On Michigan ave. Close transportation. De Paul theater nest door, legends.

Negatives: Ask 2 days light repair not done. Restaurant 1.5 hr wait to be served without a reservation and tables open.

Waiters in the restaurant pretty full of themselves. It would have been nice to have access to laundry facilities. Overall, though, everyone was super nice, friendly, and helpful, and the room was beautiful - although the view was of the walls and windows of the neighboring building.

Positives: Friendly helpful staff.

Negatives: Stairs from lobby to street level (I have osteoarthritis.)

Positives: Great location, beautiful lobby and

Negatives: Not in the middle of the miracle mile area.

Nice, clean, accommodating hotel with friendly staff close to museums but not in an area with exciting places to eat and shop.

Positives: The hotel was well-run, clean, and staff was friendly.

Negatives: Too far away from the stores on Michigan Avenue.

The hotel was great! Extremely comfortable and clean. Views were beautiful, overlooked Buckingham Fountain, Soldier Field, Lake Michigan, and could see Navy Pier and the lights at night. Price for parking is ridiculous, but you could opt to park in a nearby lot. We had a great time and would stay again.

Positives: The people, everyone was friendly and helpful, hotel was clean, upgraded room had a great view.

Negatives: Parking cost $47/day.

The room was clean, modern and comfortable. I felt I could spread out and just relax. Bathrooms were very cool. Lobby was cozy and a nice place to hang out. The gift shop could provide more basic amenities.

Positives: Rooms were large and comfortable. Modern without being trendy.

Negatives: Not a very extensive in-room menu.

Wonderful hotel. Great customer service. Friendly staff. Very clean and up to date. Was able to get upgrade to higher floor on Lake Michigan side for additional $30/night

Positives: Updated ... but kept the old style of hotel.

Negatives: A little to far South for what we were wanting to do. My friend has trouble walking .

The hotel lobby was beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were able to check in earlier than 4 o'clock. The staff was always there to help and always had a smile. The rooms were stunning with bathrooms that made you feel like royalty.

Positives: The room and bath. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Negatives: Nothing.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Blackstone. The service from the staff was excellent and the location is great - right on the magnificent mile. Our room was large, the bathroom was huge and deluxe. We even had a refrigerator! We would be happy to stay here again! The only negative thing we had to say was that the towels were small and not very fluffy, but that's a very minor complaint. If you stay here, be sure to take some time to explore. The ballroom is gorgeous and there are some cool things to see in the hotel.

Positives: Very modern decor, clean, large rooms.

Negatives: The gangsta theme is a little weird, 1 star towels.

I would go there again.

Positives: Clean and modernized.

Negatives: Nothing stood out.

Beautiful hotel, wonderful stay.<BR/>I would definitely go again.

Positives: The ambiance of the room was beautiful and the Chicago view was even better.

Negatives: Room service wasn't 24/7.

I traveled to this hotel with my fiancee and his good friend. The decor was beautiful, the rooms were huge, and the beds were very comfortable. It was all lovely except for our restaurant experience. The food was very tasty, but the chef's speciality is tappas, which are tiny portions of food for up to $20 a plate. These portions are so small that I doubt it could fill a child's belly. Be prepared to spend a small fortune if you plan to be full. Also, our waiter was very rude and treated us in a condescending manner because we only bought one entree per person. However, if you take away our restaurant experience, everything else was great.

Positives: The decor was beautiful, the front desk was helpful and friendly.

Negatives: Portions of food in the restaurant are TINY, waiter was very rude.

Very exotic, lovely, staff is very friendly and helpfully.

Positives: Beautiful, well appointed and was friendly.

Negatives: Entrance was difficult, many stairs.

Another wonderful Marriott experience. The staff was awesome and the property itself nicely decorated, furnished, and clean. Would've taken that bed home if I could've - it was like sleeping on a cloud! Would almost consider paying full price to stay here - except that we have priceline!

Positives: The staff was friendly and very helpful.

Negatives: The area around the backside of the hotel seemed a little shady at night.

Hotel is clean and stylish with comfortable guest rooms. The staff was friendly and attentive.

Positives: Newly renovated, clean and stylish hotel. Helpful staff.

Negatives: Hotel was about 1-1.5 mile south of most of our activities.

Reviewer: Not provided on Wed 10 Jun 2009 rated 9 out of 10.

All in all, a nice hotel, with very friendly staff. The hotel didn't have a pool, but we were in town to visit tourist attractions, not live in the hotel. The hotel is in a safe location, and is within a 10-15 minute walk of eating establishments. Do not take young children to the hotel restaurant. I would have eaten there but I wasn't on an expense account (Dinner is around $60 a person).

Positives: They provided robes.

Negatives: Free internet in the lobby, but charge for internet in the rooms.

This is a great place to stay for a romantic time away. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Historic hotel, beautifully updated.

Positives: The room was beautiful and spacious. The bed was so comfy. I slept soundly, unusual for me at a hotel.

Negatives: The shower in our room had very low water pressure.

N/A.

Positives: The rooms are beautiful and very spacious.

Negatives: They did not have very many rooms facing the lake, and very few rooms with double beds.

I loved the old style grandeur and updated rooms, modern and cool artwork.

Positives: It had old style grandeur beauty.

Negatives: I wanted 2 queen beds which they could not accommodate.

Reviewer: Not provided on Thu 16 Apr 2009 rated 9 out of 10.

Beautifully decorated. Rooms are furnished with taste and comfort. We had a great view, even without being on the lake-ward side.

Positives: Elegant, creative decor. Very comfortable.

Negatives: Wanted 2 beds - couldn't get them.
