Excellent place to stay in Downtown Chicago. Many places conveniently located within walking distance.

The garden/park view to the north, proximity to Oak Street shops, beach, walking paths, lake view, excellent value for Bed and Breakfast rate, proximity to Mag Mile and big stores, fine concierge services.

Positives: The price was excellent value for the experience we received at the Drake.

Negatives: One day one of the elevators did not function, taking us up, then down, then up, doors closing and opening quickly, from sixth floor to basement.

This is a wonderful hotel, which certainly deserves a 4+ star rating, the staff is professional and the rooms were nicely appointed and impeccably clean!

Positives: Comfortable, clean, luxurious, and extremely professional staff.

Negatives: Bathrooms are really small, and the tub drained very slowly.

Positives: Very elegant, great location. Full of history and glamor.

What a wonderful old hotel. There's a reason it's legendary in Chicago!

Positives: The location, the view, and the decor were amazing!

Negatives: The room, while spectacular, needs to be renovated sometime soon (electric, etc).

I was appalled at the fees attached to every little thing. Never again. I have stayed at much much much nicer hotels for $130 or less and gotten jacuzzi suites, king bed, free TV & movies, turn down, robes, etc. I will not return here nor recommend it to anyone. The Knickerbocker is across the street.

Positives: Location and

Negatives: No

Positives: Awesome location for shopping, dining, and lake.

Negatives: Opulent, classic decor was not really our style.

OMG! What an awesome experience to stay at The Drake Hotel! From check-in to check-out the experience was delightful. The staff was extremely courteous, the room was exceptionally clean, the bed for so very comfortable and the pillows made every nights sleep a dream! The location was perfect.

Positives: Loved the bed, and the pillows are the best!

Negatives: The roll-a-way bed was not comfortable at all.

Recently restored to its former grandeur. Rooms nicely appointed with comfortable beds. Two restaurants and a beautiful cocktail lounge.

Positives: Beautiful restoration and architecture.

Negatives: Pricey parking for car.

Pleasantly surprised at this gracious, lovely hotel. Not an older hotel that is semi-shabby. Nice room, clean and well appointed. I would gladly return.

Positives: Elegant, friendly, great concierge, clean, and very nice.

Negatives: No complaints.

The staff was great. Husband didn't have shaving cream and they brought it up within minutes. Called us a cab to get back to airport. The rooms were very nice and the linens were awesome. Down comforter was great.

Positives: Clean, beautifully decorated, in the heart of downtown.

Negatives: There is nothing I didn't like.

Positives: Very nice view.

Negatives: Old.

The hotel was nice overall. The room was very pretty and the view from the room was beautiful. Although expensive, the room service was great and the food was quite tasty. I would return to this hotel but next time I would bring snacks and bottled water.

Positives: The hotel was beautiful and well kept. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Negatives: I expected an upscale hotel to have everything regular hotels have and more. I was shocked to find there were no vending machines. The room was small.

Had trouble getting into the room as the key did not work. The kids were tired and cranky and we had to wait 20 minutes for them to address the problem. I had the worst tasting water ever from the hotel restaurant and had to spend $7 to purchase a bottle of purified water. And we had to park 4 blocks away as the self park next door was full.

Positives: Location and ambiance.

Negatives: Water tasted like sewage and staff was snotty.

The hotel was decent. It needs to be updated.

Positives: The hotel staff was helpful.

Negatives: The room could have been better and there was a problem with the heating unit which made the room cold.

Very nice. Overall great stay.

Positives: The location was great for a Chicago shopping weekend.

Negatives: I was a Hilton Diamond member and felt that the others in my party has nicer bigger rooms.

Negatives: Small lobby area.

Very beautiful and clean, no problems at the hotel at all.

Positives: Very beautiful.

Negatives: There was a smell that came from the toilet in the bath.

This old stately hotel is beautiful and well maintained. The staff is very helpful and friendly. If you are looking for new and modern this is not the hotel for you. They need to improve retrieval time for your car at $49 per night for valet they are way to slow.

Positives: The convenient location and elegance.

Negatives: It took too long to retrieve car from parking.

We stayed here for two nights and had a very nice stay. Hotel was close to a lot of things and very easy to get around. Room service was available.

Positives: Very well kept.

Negatives: Our room was very hot-unable to cool.

Reviewer: Not provided on Tue 13 Oct 2009 rated 5 out of 10.

Location was good, lobby and rooms were clean and nicely furnished but it has very few amenities, if any, for accommodating children, certainly not what I would call a family friendly hotel.

Positives: It was clean and showed very little signs of its age.

Negatives: The employee made no effort to change our accommodations from a room with twin beds to a room with two double beds to accommodate our grandchildren.

Reviewer: Not provided on Tue 13 Oct 2009 rated 9 out of 10.

Old. Bathrooms had mold in the shower and low water pressure.

Positives: Lots of character.

Negatives: No free internet access.

I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Positives: Everything was nice.

Negatives: There was no Wi-Fi.

Reviewer: Not provided on Wed 16 Sep 2009 rated 9 out of 10.

The entrance area was lovely and all the people were helpful. There was very limited lobby area to sit and read or have a cup of coffee, at least I could not find it. My room far surpassed what I expected for the price I paid and we had a great view of roof top gardens and the lake. Everything was good except that there was an extra charge for use of the computers in the business center and for the work out facilities which made a short workout a bit pricey. We stayed at other less expensive places during this trip that do not charge for these services. I would go back if I could get the same price, but would competitively shop for these extras to be in the overnight charges if I was paying the full price.

Positives: The room and view were gorgeous.

Negatives: If I had paid full price I would have been upset the WiFi and workout facilities were an additional charge.

The Drake was probably an incredible hotel several decades ago, which appears to have been the last time any updating was done. The bathroom fixtures were hideous, as was the bathroom in general. Also, the TV in the room was a vacuum tube Zenith Circa 1990 that was housed in a bulky armoire

Positives: The location is incredible. Right next to Michigan Ave. shopping and some great restaurants.

Negatives: The Drake is in dire need of updating. Also, the service was severely lacking (both housekeeping and room service).
