Great hotel for location, aesthetic beauty, and location. Perfect for a romantic weekend. I can not imagine bringing children there, as our room was very small, and the bathroom, while interesting in design, it offered very little privacy- it would be difficult to stay with little ones.
Positives: great modern aesthetic with special little touches throughout
Negatives: the room was small, with some obvious signs of wear

The hotel was very nice and the staff was great. It was a long walk to the "L" if you are using the train system. The building was older but nicely remodeled. The rooms were more traditional, not the super-modern design of some W hotels.
Positives: Beautiful hotel with great service! Beautiful views of the lake.
Negatives: It was obviously not built to be a W Hotel, the rooms were more traditional, but still very nice.

This hotel was not what I had expected. The room was very small, barely enough room for the 2 beds. The bathroom was very small. The hotel lobby was crowded all the time. (Very small lobby) The beds were comfy. I had expected a larger room and better view for the price I paid.
Positives: The staff was great!
Negatives: Rooms were very small. Not enough room for 3 people. The entry way of hotel was a a mess with cars and

Our family enjoyed staying at the W. It was a great price and a great location. We walked several times to Navy Pier. Very convenient walkway! We also loved the convenience to walk from Michigan Ave shops even in the winter cold. I loved my morning run on the treadmill overlooking Lk Mich and Navy Pier, while my husband and kids enjoyed the pool. My daughter LOVED all the Bliss products!
Positives: Great location, views from gym and pool, wish we had upgraded to a room with a better view.
Negatives: The wooden divider between bathroom and beds was odd, but nice to let light in when doing makeup. Parking was expensive..

W is a beautiful hotel with a wonderful staff, very friendly and courteous. They went out of their way for us. The room was quite lovely, the bed was the best I have ever slept on. The view was the city view, which was looking right into other buildings, not much of a view, and we had to request a coffee maker, did not come with the room.
Positives: Staff was wonderful.
Negatives: amenities in room had to be requested

The hotel is a renovation of an older property but for the most part very well done. Rooms are reasonably spacious and well finished with good amenities, particularly the wonderful assortment of Bliss Spa products in the bathroom. The beds were very comfortable, and the air conditioner was . My only reservation with staying here again regards the bathroom. The bathroom opens on to the main room with a very large pass through style window opening, which has a pair of wooden shutters which do little to ensure privacy.
Positives: Very comfortable beds, great bathroom amenities.
Negatives: Very strange bathroom layout allowed very little privacy.

Property is gorgeous. Very nice lobby and rooms. The lounge is a bit tiny. Easy to check out.
Positives: Extremely trendy: felt very hip and edgy.
Negatives: Outrageously priced valet parking: $53/night.

Lovely open areas.
Positives: Great coffee in the morning.
Negatives: When I ordered a glass of wine at the lobby bar they served me the most expensive glass (15.00).

Overall, it is a cute boutique hotel in a great location right off of Lake Michigan. The view from my hotel room was spectacular. I also liked being able to see the lake from the shower/bathroom. In addition, like I previously mentioned, the customer service (everyone from the doormen, to the front desk, to the concierge, to the cleaning ladies) was top notch.
Positives: Lake view, excellent customer service, late check out because of Starwood Preferred Guest membership.
Negatives: Room was somewhat small, no refrigerator.

Great hotel and view was great of Lake Michigan. I liked the lounge area when you walk in and as it had a hip vibe. The only thing I didn't like was the sliding door for the bathroom, didn't give you too much privacy. Otherwise it was great.

Positives: Great location, trendy, and nice rooms.
Negatives: Bathroom doors, little privacy with sliding door.

Older hotel that is been updated very well. Trendy place with a great location near Navy Pier.
Positives: The views were exceptional.
Negatives: I had to register for starwood rewards to get a King Bed.

Don't let them park your car! W Hotel claims no affiliation with the guys that park cars for them. When our car came back dented they gave us the run around. Called their insurance company and they sent a phony letter saying it was my fault for not checking the car out before I left. I described where the car had been damaged (all four corners) and asked for a copy of the parking receipt (where the guy that parks your car marks where it was damaged. When I received the receipt it showed damage on all four corners. The car was only damaged in one spot, however! I think the guy that parked the car was mad he didn't get tipped to park the car and must have kicked it. Wasn't about to tip for parking the car when they charge $48 to park it. Did tip when they brought the car back.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Dented my car when they parked it.

They made me wait 45 minutes at lobby till almost midnight before I can check into my 2 double bedroom. My daughter was to join me the next day. They first offered me a drink after 15 minutes and when I complained after half hour wait, they offered me food voucher. When I talked to front desk next morning, they offered Star wood hotel points credit to my husband's account. Other than this long wait around midnight when I was really tired, the staff and facilities have been good. For a 4-star hotel, you still have to ask for shower cap to be delivered to the room! It finally came in small packet with cotton balls, nail file, etc., and all I want is shower cap. Most 4-star hotel would have these in room along with soap.
Positives: Good view of lake Michigan, close to beach and Navy Pier.
Negatives: I arrived at hotel at 10:30 pm and my room was still not ready. I had to wait at lobby for 45 minutes to check into the room at 11:20 pm!

Great service.<BR/>I think this particular chain is more for the upscale socialite.
Positives: Great service from the minute I walked in.
Negatives: Overnight parking was $50 < but thats the rates in downtown Chicago.

Swanky, but classically Chicago - small. Don't pay the outrageous $48 parking fee when you can self park at public parking garages less than a block away for $28. Friendly & helpful staff. Bliss spa in house.
Positives: Comfy beds.
Negatives: Tiny room, had to move furniture to fit massage table in the room.

The room was okay at best, strange arrangement with the bathroom open, to the bedroom with only a shutter to close. The disco feel of the lobby was strange. We have stayed in several other 4-star Chicago hotels and there was no comparison. This is a 2.5 star hotel at best.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Everything else.

The room was nice, but a just a little smaller than I thought it would be. It worked great for us because we were so close to where we going to visit. We had breakfast and it was very nice and not too expensive. I thought the food prices, even for room service were reasonable.
Positives: Modern.
Negatives: Small and confusing registration and check in.

Modern and sleek decor.
Positives: Attractive rooms and good drainage and water pressure.
Negatives: Parking was expensive even for chicago.

I absolutely love this and wonderful hotel. I called down to the whatever/whenever and the employee was wonderfully helpful multiple times. The concierge was incredibly helpful and friendly. I love the decor, the in room stereo, the huge flat screen TV, the shower head, the awesomely comfortable beds, the CDS and DVDS the hotel offers for use. There were hardback, pop culture books in the room to read.
Positives: The whatever whenever service was helpful and top notch. The vehicle transportation offered is unbeatable.
Negatives: High priced wireless internet.

When calling to request a room with one king size bed, I was given the run around. Upon arrival we requested the king bed again and were given a handicap room. The showers in those rooms are less than desirable. The W Lakeshore would never be recommended by me.
Positives: Friendly staff, comfortable bed..
Negatives: For the price, have stayed at much better!

The hotel was nice, had fancy items in the mini bar, and the room was decorated for relaxation. The bathroom was unique with a shower head that pointed straight down and a shower door that is only a glass sheet that does not move. Maybe not the best for a family, but fine if you're alone or traveling as a couple. There are telescopes on each floor to look out onto navy pier.
Positives: This hotel was great for a younger crowd. It had an excellent night life setting.
Negatives: The internet was expensive and wasn't even free in the lobby, either.

Great location. Friendly staff. Good presentation, but not great ( they change out the floor mats in the elevators to reflect the time of day [ie. Good Morning, Good Evening] but the mats are always rummfled up and thus are unattractive and present tripping hazards.
Worst thing was bathroom in the hotel room. It had an opening to the main room that could only be closed off with louvered shutters (which offered no sound-proofing, and didn't even have a mechanism to secure them in the closed position). Also, the door to the bathroom was a sliding door that even when fully closed had about a half-inch gap between the door and the wall, meaning the person in the room could pretty clearly see the person in the bathroom.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Bathroom had sliding door which provided very little privacy.

The hotel is very beautiful and modern. Many available amenities and easy access to cabs.
Positives: It is a ten minute walk to the Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue.
Negatives: Some of the front desk staff were not very friendly.
