The Kentwood in Ketchum has some things going for it. The rooms have nice amenities and pleasant rustic decorum. The hotel is centrally located, well within walking distance of all restaurants and shops in Ketchum, and provides a nice view of the surrounding mountains. The hotel also has limited covered parking, which is a nice bonus considering it snowed or rained most of our stay. Front desk staff was also polite and helpful in providing ideas of what recreation activities are available in the area. Unfortunately, there appears to be little to no insulation in the floors and walls though, and literally every noise is carried through the walls and floors. The sound of every vehicle driving by on the main highway during the morning commute, carried far too loudly into our room. We could also hear every noise from the room above us, to include full conversations and even the toilet paper roller spinning in it's cradle. Not exactly a romantic setting when you are concerned about your neighbors hearing every noise you make. Worse yet though was the incredibly inconsiderate housekeeping staff. My wife and I were at the Kentwood, celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary, and had put out both 'do not disturb' signs our first morning there. (The one that slides into the card key slot and the one that hangs on the door knob). Starting about 09:30 am, the Spanish speaking housekeeping ladies started working their way down our hallway. They were cleaning rooms on opposite sides of the hall and yelling. Then at 10:00 am, the phone in our room rings. I answered and it was housekeeping, advising they saw our 'do not disturb' signs but wanted to check and see if we wanted them to come in and clean our room. I'm not sure which part of two separate 'do not disturb' signs they didn't get, but it was incredibly frustrating. That experience was added to the maintenance issues we experienced on our arrival. Our bathroom light was burnt out and the smoke detector battery was dead and it was chirping. Small issues like this are to be expected sometimes, and it wasn't an issue for us until it took 4 hours for facilities to finally make it to our room to resolve the issues.The Kentwood has a nice central location and decent amenities, but unfortunately I can't recommend it. If the lodge were better insulated and had more considerate staff, this would be a positive review. As it stands though, it is not and I will not stay there on my next visit to Sun Valley/Ketchum.
Positives: Good central location. Within walking distance of all Downtown Ketchum.
Negatives: Very poor insulation, and very noisy. Very inconsiderate housekeeping staff!
