Older hotel.

Positives: Price.

Negatives: No hot water on our last day from 6.30am until 10.30am. Told front desk and they just said, we are sorry.

It was alright for the price. We have stayed in much worse from Priceline , however, this hotel was rated the highest available for this city. It was quite old, so there was no air conditioner - well....not one that worked. We asked for a wakeup call at 6:45. There was no call at all.

Positives: Close to my business meetings.

Negatives: No

We stayed here for 6 days, very good place to live. The fitness room is wonderful. The only thing I don't like is the bed. Although it's very comfortable, it feels too warm at night even when the room temperature is very low. If the bed temperature isn't a problem for you, I guess it's OK.

Positives: Good environment, and nice staff.

Negatives: The beds are not fit for low room temperature.

We usually love the red lion. This time, after telling them I am a light sleeper, they gave us a room at the end of the hall, that should be quiet, there was a broken fan, and when I went to the front desk, the other woman said that they have had complaints. Everyone at the front desk should know that. Very important. We moved to a location right across the street from the girl bar, thank goodness it was a wed. night. Then at 6:30 am, the fire alarm went off. calling the front desk to see what to do , no one knew what was happening. that is unacceptable.

Positives: The friendly staff.

Negatives: So outdated in the sheet department. That is a total turn off for me.

Friendly staff, nice rooms. French onion and apple soup was excellent. Breakfast buffet was in the OK category.

Positives: The staff was very willing to move me upstairs to a better room when I asked, because the room on the first floor smelled of cigarette smoke.

Negatives: The smell of cigarette smoke in the hallway of the first-floor wing and in the first-floor room.

This would be a good place to stay for someone on a business trip. Its just off main street close to everything you would need to do. They do have wireless Internet available. You can dine in for a price and you can sit in the hot tub to relax if its open.

Positives: I liked that it was non-smoking.

Negatives: We did not have enough beds. We did not get to swim in the pool it is out doors. We did not get to eat there it was closed.

The staff and the cleanliness of the hotel is always extremely important to us when we travel. The staff at this Red Lion Hotel was extremely pleasant and very helpful. We went down to the bar and was treated exceptionally good by the bar tender and visited the restaurant the following morning and the service was very good. Over all we really enjoyed our stay. The only thing we would have preferred is to have to have had a queen or king bed instead of two full size beds.

Positives: The staff was very helpful in many areas during our visit.

Negatives: At first it was hard to locate.

This is a nice, well maintained business hotel. It's in a great location just north of downtown Boise and the State Capital. There is a gentleman's club across the street and the immediate area of the hotel seems a bit dirty. They checked me into a room with very heavy tobacco smoke (at a 100% non smoking hotel). The maid or somebody from the hotel should have addressed this problem before I was given this room. The next room had a lot of broken items including the phone which did not work. My third room was acceptable although the view was obstructed by a fence around the rooftop HVAC equipment. The twin rooms come with a microwave and small fridge which I considered a nice feature. The twin beds were tiny and not very comfortable. The room looked as if it had been updated and redecorated recently. The light fixtures in the room and bathroom were very modern. The room was not spotlessly clean. I smelled cigarette smoke coming into my room on the last morning (at a 100% non smoking hotel). The smoking policy should be enforced and guests should be told about it on check in.

Positives: They checked me into a very smoky room and took care of it.

Negatives: Some parts of the room such as corners and the closet were not clean. The top of the hallway ice machine was filthy.

This hotel isn't even a one star rating. Entire property is outdated/run-down/filthy from parking lot, entry way, lobby, halls, elevator and room. In-room dining trays remained in hall outside rooms with food on for 2 days. The room I stayed in had: stained floors, sheets and furniture.

Positives: Balcony

Negatives: Sheets/furniture/carpets soiled and stained.

This is great hotel for a senior, single woman traveler who wants to eat in and relax in safety. Love the in-room Wi-Fi.

Positives: Great location, well-priced restaurants, quiet, felt safe.

Negatives: Wish it had an indoor pool/spa.

Reviewer: Not provided on Sat 16 Oct 2010 rated 9 out of 10.

Positives: All good.

Negatives: Room had an bad smell like dirty carpet.

Overall, the hotel was nice, the shower was not draining properly & standing water to shower was not so nice.

Positives: The price was great. Nice size room.

Negatives: The tub did not drain, stood in water up to my calves to shower.

I like this hotel but it is always the one given to
me from Priceline in Boise. It would be great to stay in a Hilton property once in
a while.

Positives: Convenient to my customers. It is a well kept property. They have upgraded the rooms recently.

Negatives: Could use a better restaurant. Limited selection of good food.

Reviewer: Not provided on Sat 03 Apr 2010 rated 10 out of 10.

Clean, had all features that you would expect convenient location to downtown area and Bogus Basin.

Positives: Upscale, clean.

Negatives: People in restaurant area could have more personality.

Reviewer: Not provided on Mon 29 Mar 2010 rated 5 out of 10.

We requested a upper floor, hotel is 7 stories, she could only do 2nd floor. There were six cars in the parking lot, so they obviously not full. Did not understand the problem. Plus, they are not located downtown, they are on the outskirts of downtown. Place is rundown, and needs a exterior face lift.

Positives: Not much.

Negatives: Wasn't downtown as stated, advertised as a 7 story hotel, only 2nd floor for us.

Reviewer: Not provided on Wed 24 Feb 2010 rated 2 out of 10.

After our stay at a 2 1/2 star hotel, we were expecting that this 3 star motel would be superior. That was not the case.

Positives: Nothing.

Negatives: Dated, smelled of smoke, and no free papers.

Reviewer: Not provided on Sun 27 Dec 2009 rated 8 out of 10.

Conveniently located to airport and Boise State. Spacious and clean rooms with facilities to accommodate business people. Good dining and sports bar/gameroom for entertainment. Room rate was a bargain!

Positives: Hotel had a nice bar/gameroom/sports bar.

Negatives: Hotel elevator was out of commission and we had to climb two flights of stairs to room!

Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 25 Dec 2009 rated 8 out of 10.

Hotel is OK, but it did not meet my expectations for a 3-star hotel. The mattress was too soft, the pillows were uncomfortable, and in general the room looked dated.

Positives: Low nightly rate.

Negatives: Room furnishings are getting old.

Reviewer: Not provided on Tue 22 Dec 2009 rated 8 out of 10.

Clean, friendly and secure.

Positives: Clean and very nice bathrooms.

Negatives: No elevator.

Reviewer: Not provided on Wed 16 Dec 2009 rated 10 out of 10.

Conveniently located to downtown area, rooms are a bit dated but well worth the price, coffee shop has limited breakfast menu.

Positives: Close to downtown.

Negatives: Road noise, no night light in bathroom.

Reviewer: Not provided on Mon 30 Nov 2009 rated 7 out of 10.

The room was fairly comfortable and clean but I would not rate the hotel as a 3-star. Probably more in the 2.5 star range. It is a little tough to access from the freeway but all around a fairly pleasant experience.

Positives: Newer remodeled rooms.

Negatives: Facility was older than expected.

Reviewer: Not provided on Wed 25 Nov 2009 rated 5 out of 10.

It was okay, no good channels and they forgot our breakfast.

Positives: Location.

Negatives: They forgot to make our breakfast.

Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 09 Oct 2009 rated 8 out of 10.

The hotel was nice. At check-in, the woman was very nice and allowed us to check in almost three hours before we were supposed to. The room was very well appointed. The only problem we really had there was the electronic card scanners. They were very touchy and it took us some time to get into our room and into the pool area. Also, the pool was not very clean. It had a lot of leaves in it. However, the hotel itself was very clean. The furnishings were very modern.

Positives: The hotel was very clean and modern.

Negatives: The TV channel selection was not very good.

Reviewer: Not provided on Wed 07 Oct 2009 rated 7 out of 10.

It is an older hotel across the street from a club! I am not sure what makes a hotel have higher stars. If it is because of the overpriced room service or restaurants on site, that is ridiculous. I would take a Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn Express, etc. any day. Even local calls were not free. Cable selection was poor as well in comparison with other chains.

Positives: Price was good.

Negatives: Across the street from a club! No complimentary breakfast.

Reviewer: Not provided on Tue 06 Oct 2009 rated 8 out of 10.

This hotel reflected an older establishment with a nice, quiet room, and good bed, in a older part of the city. We found the management competent, and a pleasant staff. There is no free continental breakfast at this location.

Positives: Nice bed, quartz bathroom finish, nice pillows.

Negatives: Older, rougher area of town, inconvenient location.

Reviewer: Not provided on Sun 27 Sep 2009 rated 10 out of 10.

Overall,
I think it is a great hotel, except for the fact you have to pay for breakfast the next morning, and there isn't a fridge to stock up yourself.

Positives: It was beautiful and easy to find.

Negatives: No free breakfast and no fridge or microwave.

Reviewer: Not provided on Thu 27 Aug 2009 rated 8 out of 10.

The rooms are nice, the bed was fantastic. Pass on the hotel restaurant, the sports bar was lively and friendly. Didn't have time to use the hotel gym but peeked in; nicer than most.

Positives: The rooms were very nice, the beds fantastic.

Negatives: The lobby and hallways need to be updated, smell smokey.

Reviewer: Not provided on Thu 27 Aug 2009 rated 8 out of 10.

It was nice, but not convenient to places to eat. The room needed repairs done.

Positives: Beds were very comfy.

Negatives: Room needed repairs.

If you stay at Red Lion you can't go wrong. Very comfortable beds and nice size rooms. The bar served great food at a very reasonable price. All of the staff was nice and friendly.

Positives: Everything, especially the soft beds

Negatives: two twin-like size beds
