The location is wonderful! The hotel is top caliber and all the extras such as hammocks, beautiful grounds, riverfront, are an added bonus! We loved this hotel and plan to make it "our private getaway close to home"!
Positives: Beautiful, quiet, luxurious, with great location that puts you in the middle of River Street without the crowds.
Negatives: There was nothing we did not like. In fact we stayed an extra day ! The activity fee should be included in the room rate.

I stayed at the Westin resort during the police chiefs conference this July 2011. The hotel was very nice. The scenery was heavenly. The entire staff was very courteous and helpful. I had a river view room. It was very nice to look out at night. The beds slept the best I have ever slept on. The double headed shower was very relaxing. I will definitely return again and would highly recommend this to my friends. I will bring my family next time where they can enjoy this beautiful resort hotel.
Positives: The scene of the river from my room.
Negatives: Slow in checking in, but I was very understanding.

Our room was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the pool and wish we had spent more time there. There were plenty of lounge chairs. There was free water and lemonade as well as peaches & cookies available in the lobby when we checked in. Bus boys were very friendly. Would love to stay in this quality place on all my trips. Wish the room had had a microwave and a small refrigerator.
Positives: Luxurious, everyone friendly. Convenient boat shuttle to main shopping area, Just great!
Negatives: Can't think of anything.

The staff worked hard to make their guest feel right at home.
Positives: The staff really cared about their guests to accommodate them no matter what.
Negatives: I wish that the resort was bigger.

The room was excellent. We opted to utilize the recycle program and not have our room serviced. The reward for this was a gift card that was supposedly recognized at a number of restaurants. I didn't get my room serviced nor did I receive the gift card until I inquired about them at check-out. I was then challenged as if I was lying about my room not being cleaned. When I finally received the cards I learned they were only for hotel restaurants. The door men and their supervisor were poor to say the least. I have never been to a Westin and had to remove my own bags from the car until Savannah. I paid twenty dollars per night extra for a room with a view. I was given a room with a joining door in which a small child repeatedly jiggled and banged on the door at all times of the day and night. They could not move us due to being full. The extra fees should be advertised so at least you're aware and can make an informed decision.
Positives: The room was great, but I had to pay an extra 20 bucks a night for a river view. The guy who brought our bags from the room at check-out was very nice.
Negatives: There was no greeting from the door man who was in the company of his supervisor. I had to request help with my bags not typical of an upscale hotel.

My husband and I stayed at the Westin for Thanksgiving week-end. Although we have been to other Westin locations, this was our first visit to the Savannah Westin. We found it to beautiful, comfortable, and of high quality. The one problem I encountered is that the reservations people at the toll free nationwide center, as with other hotels and chains, sometimes provide incorrect information. I requested a balcony but it was never written in to the reservation by the reservation center. We are returning to this Westin 03/16 and I have called a few times to be sure things are correct for our two rooms. I have spoken directly with Savannah staff and have been assured of two balconies with adjoining rooms. I believe that with regard to a previous writer's comments, hotels such as the Westin want to assure a quiet, wonderful environment and may have procedures in place such as the hotel staff bringing bags from the room to maintain the desired environment. I appreciated the help and at no time felt anyone was trying to get a tip. Although appropriate, tips are not mandatory and it is a shame that anyone would feel that way with the beauty and ambiance of the Savannah Westin. While we were there in November, we had a cake and pie delivered as my son and his family came to visit us from SC. The hotel staff held the cake and pie until we were ready for them, keeping them cool and provided us with silverware. It is as if they are there to help with anything needed. We love it and will go there often but will rely on the local hotel staff to help with our requests ahead of time.
Positives: Feeling very pampered by everyone there.
Negatives: Reservations made with toll free number aren't always exactly what was requested.

Next to convention center, but across from historical area of Savannah. Our room overlooked the city (we agreed to pay extra) and a water taxi brought us back and forth.
Positives: Attention to detail, comfort of bed.
Negatives: Hit us with extra charges.

I would definitely come back. Would definitely try to stay longer.
Positives: Loved the view.
Negatives: Aqua restaurant food was great, but there was someone asking who things were going at all tables except mine.

On January 1, 2010, my wife and I were getting ready to check out from the hotel. My wife was still in the room grooming, so I decided to get an early start. I went to pickup my vehicle to load our luggage and eat breakfast at the hotel. I parked my vehicle at the loading-unloading area. I proceeded to go back to the hotel to get our bags. I approached one of the door greeters and I asked him if I could use one of the luggage carts that were parked at the front door. The attendant, a heavy set man told me that I couldn't use that cart because the hotel would provide its guests with the service. So the attendant asked me for my keys and my room number. I informed the attendant that I couldn't do that because my wife was still at the room. The attendant denied me the use of the cart. I become a little upset and ignoring the situation, I proceeded to go back to my room to get my luggage. I was waiting at the elevator when a tall medium built man approached me and told me in a bad manner that I have to move my vehicle because I was blocking the hotel's van that had just arrived. I informed the attendant that I had parked my vehicle in a way that it wouldn't obstruct any traffic. The attendant become arrogantly told me that I have to move my vehicle from where I had parked it. I parked my vehicle in front of a gate that was blocked by some red cones. As I was coming out of my vehicle, another attendant, a heavy set male (Luis) approached me arrogantly and told me that I couldn't park my vehicle there either. I asked the attendant where he wanted me to park my vehicle to get my bags and get out of the hotel. The attendant told me where to park. I became very upset about the entirely illogical situation and I decided to talk to the hotel Manager. As I was waiting to talk to the Manager, I noticed that the tall medium built man was behind me and looking at me. I looked back to the attendant. He raised his hands making a gang gesture saying "was sup". I spoke with the manager regarding the situation and he simply apologized. I felt as if the hotel employees were trying to force me into allowing them to park my vehicle and bring down by luggage from my room in an attempt to earn a tip. The hotel is in a good location and the facilities are very nice; however, I will never stay at this hotel again because of the encounter that I had with the rude staff.
Positives: No comments, it was good.
Negatives: The rudeness of the hotel greeters, no people's skills at all.

Great location with free ferry rides across the river to the historic district of Savannah. Nice clean rooms with very comfortable beds and nice bathroom amenities.
Positives: The location the staffs attentiveness.
Negatives: We had asked for a new comforter and this was not replaced, it could have been a language barrier issue though.

The overall experience was nice. The staff was friendly. I called ahead to ask for an early check in and was advised to come to the front desk to see if the room was ready. Upon arrival I was advised that the room was not ready, but the staff took my cell # and said they would call shortly and get our room ready. I never received a phone call and was not able to check in for 4 hours after initial contact with check in staff.
Positives: The bed and bedding were very comfortable.
Negatives: Not being able to take own drinks and food to pool.

The Westin on Hutchinson Island was a pleasure to visit. The service/accommodations was more than met our expectations and we will return.

Great resort. We just love the "heavenly" touches that the Westin provides.
Positives: They had a ferry that transported us to River Street. This made getting around very easy.
Negatives: The view on the back side of the resort isn't the greatest.

The hotel thought we had a dog with us (no idea where they got that from) and were out of king rooms. When we got to the room, I was surprised to find that the furniture was slightly shabby (worn legs, faded fabric, etc.). The A/C never was very cold though we spent so little time in our room that it didn't matter much. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and we slept well. The common areas of the hotel are beautiful and Sunday brunch was incredible.
Positives: Location was great.
Negatives: Our room was a little shabby.

They charge $20 daily for amenities that you can not opt out of.
Positives: Wasting, I didn't expect anything less.
Negatives: The $20 other daily fee they charge for internet and other amenities that are not optional.

This is a great location. I was expecting more food variety. The room had a mini bar that charged $2.50 for 1 candy bar. Other than the food, I would definitely consider staying here again.
Positives: Location, cleanliness, friendliness of gift shop salesperson.
Negatives: They never gave us the complimentary bottle of champagne they promised for our anniversary on 5/30/98.
