Osteen, Florida is a community located in southwest Volusia County. The community is home to the Osteen Elementary School, which is part of the Volusia County School District. Osteen Elementary is home of the Broncos, and an A+ school. It is a rather small community, placed in between Sanford and Deltona. Pell's farm is right next to the elementary school. The city was once incorporated and the abandoned city hall is located on the corner of Railroad Avenue just west of the post office. Osteen is a farming community and is known for its large amount of horse pastures. The city is also home to the Hickory Bluff Preserve, a 150 acre nature preserve with hiking and horse trails. Also located within Osteen is the Cypress Point Golf Club, a 9 hole executive length golf course. The city was named after one of the families that settled the town in the 1800s, led by Hezikiah and Susan Gaskins Osteen. A plaque is dedicated to the founders of city in the civic center that was built in 1968.
