Excellent hotel. It was like going back to another era in time. I was transported back in time. The staff was also very friendly. The lady on the midnight shift was very courteous and helpful when the leak in my room started.
Positives: It was very convenient location and elegant.
Negatives: The A/C in the room had a leak. I was offered another room, but when I returned to the room, the leak stopped.

Lovely, old and charming. The room was small but clean and adequate. We just loved the atmosphere for a Valentine's celebration as it was very romantic. Be sure and take in a play at the Ice House and the Goblin Market was a great place to have lunch or dinner. Overall wonderful hotel to visit especially if you like historic type places.
Positives: Quaint, lovely setting, very staff.
Negatives: Our room was small but adequate.

Peeling paint. Rooms had no ventilation, no extraction in the bathroom, all windows were sealed and the sink was not attached to the wall. In ten years of traveling the US it was our first experience of one lady member of the bar staff being extremely rude. The view of the lake from the verandah was stunning.

Room were dirty, found food under the bed upon arrival, windows were Plexiglas and painted shut, fire escape was outside the bathroom window with no way to get to it since all windows were painted shut and the glass in that window was embedded with wire so that it was not breakable. View of the lake from bathroom window only, drapes dirty, only one window had a blind the other was just open although you could pull the drapes if you were not afraid to touch them! Room smelled musty, only ice machine was located on the first floor and room was on the 3rd floor, haven't figured out why we were the only people in this building! Staff was rude, made reservations weeks in advance for a lake view room and was told at check in that "I can only give you what I have we are really busy this week, only seen maybe 4 cars in parking lot at 11:00 pm and one of them was ours.
Positives: Nice location walking distance of shops, bed comfort was ok nothing to write home about dock was nicely decorated for Christmas.
Negatives: Everything.

In terrible need of updating would only return when completed. No elevators, many stairs, no bellmen on and on.
Positives: The location and site was good. Restaurant was very good.
Negatives: The place was shabby, needs many repairs, rooms were musty. I had a hard time with my breathing, checked out early.

The hotel had a lot of things to do for the family, walking distance to shops in mount Dora and a great view of the lake.
Positives: Loved the old building.
Negatives: The carpets didn't seem very clean in my room.

Built in 1893, I was impressed by its outer beauty. The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I question the fact that because I got a cheaper price, I got a cheaper room. It was right over the swimming pool restrooms and the room stunk (we bought room deodorizers to mask the smell). Every time someone from the pool flushed the toilet, the noise roared in our room. The room was not very clean as there were dust bunnies everywhere. The hotel needed much maintenance (wood damage, peeling paint, etc.). I would stay there again, only if I had a different room.
Positives: Location, historical, ambiance.
Negatives: Not clean, room smelled.
