If you stay here, don't expect to sleep ever. The soundproofing is nonexistent, which is a problem for anyone whose room is near the bar/lounge area. The bar is open until 2 am (if not later) each night, and there is very loud music being played at the bar. In addition to the noise, our toilet and phone broke on our second day. We were never given any plush robes as described on the hotel website. The floors always felt dirty. The freshly laundered towels had hair all over them. The staff was slow, unfriendly, and unhelpful. I would not stay here again.

Positives: Getting to leave.

Negatives: Too much noise at night.

Not a good value for money and very small hotel room.

Positives: Location was good!

Negatives: Resort charges of $16 very unreasonable!

Awful, bright pink walls in all rooms, inadequate lighting in rooms and no place to work.

Positives: Nothing.

Negatives: No heaters in room, no desk to work at and one small lamp.

Great little find right in South Beach. Already booked another stay. Free drinks was a plus.

Positives: Next to shopping and beach.

Negatives: Loved it all.

A great location very close to shopping, the News Cafe and Ocean drive but a very run down hotel with few amenities.

Positives: Big, flat-screen TV.

Negatives: Uneven hallway floor, cramped room, shower blocked drain, small sink, poor sound proofing, hostel-like atmosphere.

Great location, if you only intend to sleep in your room and not spend much time actually in the hotel its perfect.

Positives: Location was great.

Negatives: The hallway carpets were horrible, always looked dirty.

The hotel was in a great location, but parking, was bad, the rooms were very small and service was very slow. I would not stay there again.

Positives: Location.

Negatives: Comfort.

The only thing good about this hotel is the location just a block from the beach and right in the heart of South Beach. The rooms were weird felt like I was in an Alice in Wonderland episode, the way things were decorated. The rooms were very loud you could hear people talking in the hallway, and there was this strange buzzing sound coming from the electrical circuits that kept us awake all night. Hotel staff is friendly for the most part, but our inability to sleep because of the noise made this hotel fall well below our expectations.

Positives: Great location.

Negatives: Very noisy rooms; unclean.

Room was very small, no safe in the room or the front desk, shower drips, toilet seat moves. One of the 4 nights I've stayed there it was very noisy. Room key was deactivating every day, so I needed to go back to the front desk to re-activate it every day. No parking.

Positives: It's location.

Negatives: Very small room. Room facilities function poorly (shower, toilet, etc).

I would definitely stay in this hotel again. It's close to (in the middle of) great shopping and two blocks from great food and a gorgeous public beach. The hotel is quirky and fun. I would suggest it for people with open minds ages 20-60 who are in South Beach to have a good time. It's not your Holiday Inn type of place. Probably wouldn't bring young children just because the bar gets a little loud at night. Overall, the Whitelaw rocks!

Positives: It was funky, fun and quirky with a great staff and awesome location!

Negatives: It was kind of noisy late at night. But their was a bar close to my room!

The overall decor of the hotel was pretty cool, but unfortunately the staff left me under whelmed. I had never been to Miami before and after having worked in a four star hotel myself I had expected the service in South Beach to be way better than what it was. The staff is totally in their own world when you arrive. They saw us struggling with our luggage (we had 5 huge suitcases and boxes) and didn't even offer us the bell cart they had in the corner of the lobby. I had to call the girls attention for her to check us in, there was no hello, how are you, welcome, is it your first time in Miami, etc. No sense of hospitality at all. Any time we had to ask her a question she answered no and continued to check her my space (there was a mirror right behind her at front desk). The room itself was pretty small but it had a good sized closet to fit our stuff. The hot water didn't work the first night we were there which was frustrating considering the long day we had and the AC wasn't working well. The only reason I'd stay here again would be for the location.

Positives: The beds were comfortable, the large TV in the room was nice and the location was great.

Negatives: The girl at check in was not friendly at all, no smile or welcome, there was no hot water the first night, and there was problems with the AC.

I never checked in the hotel because of its environment and its safety. When we arrived at the hotel their where police all over and when we asked to look at a room they told us that they do not have a room for us but a double bed and it is not ready but when we looked at it we were disgusted and we left without checking in hoping to find a better place to stay.

Positives: None.

Negatives: All of it and its safety.

Very comparable hotel to the others in that area. Rooms are smaller - bathroom is extremely tiny but nice. Hotel had clean rooms. Happy hour is truly happy hour - free drinks (limited to rum, gin, vodka and a mixer) great way to meet people. Location is excellent distance from the beach and restaurants. No pool, and the sun deck is very small. Overall, good hotel and would stay there again.

Positives: Location to the beach is excellent, happy hour is a added bonus, staff friendly.

Negatives: Small bathrooms and no sink area.

It was better than the price, but only good for couples or party animals.

Positives: Nice king bed, has everything we expect in a hotel room.

Negatives: Looks like somewhere to get drunk.
