As many have said, the room was moldy and smelled. I actually purchased a candle to help get rid of the musty odor. The soaking tub for the room had a tear in the liner and was unusable. The staff gave me another room that smelt worse than the first so I opted for the tub free room.
Positives: Great location.
Negatives: Room smelled.

I wasn't too impressed with this hotel. It seems a luxury, high-class hotel, clean. But the bath room has no lock. Shower/bathtub has no curtain. Coffee machine was placed in bath room, with no electric outlet. I had to bring it out in order to plug it to the wall. I don't like expensive $26/day valet parking, plus tips each time I need the vehicle.
Positives: Clean. Luxury. Good TV.
Negatives: High Price. Expensive parking. Not functional/family friendly.

Trying to be a 4* but is not. Room dirty, towels old. Could be a great property, but it is not.
Positives: Location
Negatives: Dirty floors. Feet turnded black if you walked around floor without shoes.

Nicely situated, friendly staff. Unique architecture. Rooms and bathrooms well decorated, but not much sunlight. Nice bathrooms, bed and TV. Japanese soaking tub in each room, but there is an extra charge. Nice TV. Very poor acoustics; noisy. Musty and chemical odors present. Nice pool and bar area atop hotel. Gym is modern but small. Parking convenient by expensive. No self-parking. No access (or access inoperative) to parking garage below. Restaurant good quality but very expensive for portion size.
Positives: Staff friendly, but limited in authority. Quaint architecture and well located.
Negatives: Noisy! Bad acoustics. Parking and restaurant too expensive. No convenient self-parking. Small gym. Chemical odors. Musty smell. Rooms dark.(sunlight)

Excellent hotel in a very nice location. Spacious room, bathroom and balcony. Very good choice of furnishings and big TV set in the room and one in the bathroom too. The lady at the front desk and the staff at concierge were very friendly and helpful -- the rest of the staff seemed to have a very indifferent attitude. Overall, a very good experience.
Positives: Excellent location and old world charm.
Negatives: The staff had an indifferent attitude.

The front desk was very nice but the pool was closed at sundown and we could not swim. Our room smelled musty and moldy. My daughter has bad allergies and had a hard time breathing the next morning. The bed was hard and my husband nor I slept well. We got to Miami often and we will stay somewhere else for sure.
Positives: Loved the bathroom in the room.
Negatives: Room smelled musty and AC did not work well.

The hotel does not provide self parking for its guest. A major expense ($26.00 a day) and the bid price was for 2 adults and do not include my child whom I have specified during the bidding process. The extra expense make a major difference in our budget.
Positives: The hotel is in the middle of the tourist attractions.
Negatives: I was charged an additional $30.00 per day for my older child.

Hotel has a wonderful location in the heart of Coconut Grove, but clearly needs to be renovated. I am sure it was the place to stay in the 80's, now it just looks dated. I even killed a roach on the bathroom floor.
Positives: Great location.
Negatives: Looks like it has not been renovated in 20 years.

We loved it! It was spacious, clean and attractive. It even had a private balcony with a hot tub / whirlpool. I liked that there was a spa on the premises and I had a wonderful massage. It had a min bar /fridge, big screen TV. And lots of other amenities - hair dryers, robes etc. There is a rooftop pool but we did not have time to enjoy it. The staff were friendly and there are restaurants and room service available.
Positives: Clean, spacious ,attractive , lots of amenities.
Negatives: Check in time was 4 pm. we arrived ay 6pm. the floors had just been mopped and were still soaking wet.

A very unique hotel in a great location. Rooms were well appointed, comfortable and clean with interesting architecture.
Positives: The uniqueness.
Negatives: Tile floors throughout mean noise could be a problem.

Food and restaurant service was very inconsistent. Customer service was fair at best. Depending on the bartender drink prices varied by a few dollars for the same drinks. Appetizers were inconsistent as well one day coconut shrimp came 5 pieces next day we had 10 the same price just a different day!
Positives: Roof top pool was extremely well taken care and very comfortable.
Negatives: Restaurant/staff was very inconsistent even in pricing.

Hotel was clean, upscale and very nice. I have to pay $26.00 for valet parking. Usually hotels come with free parking.
Positives: Upscale, likes the marble floors in the room.
Negatives: Snobby staff - elevator attendant made me feel like I didn't deserve to be there.

The architecture and design in this hotel are unique; the courtyards, wood-carvings and decor give the hotel a Japanese / nature feel. A welcome break from the shoe box rooms found in many other hotels. Unfortunately many balconies are facing streets with bars and restaurants that are open late and the balcony doors are not sound-proof.
Positives: Location, architecture, decor.
Negatives: Outside balconies to busy street can get loud.

An incredible resort. First class in all regards.
Positives: Incredible, top notch and first class.
Negatives: It was very warm in the general areas.

Great locale, rooms are spacious and well appointed. Due to construction there was no pool available and some rooms did not have internet access.
Positives: The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Negatives: No internet service in room, bathroom lighting too dark.

The Mayfair is one of those artsy-fartsy hotels that are so unique in appearance that it makes for a refreshing change of itinerary. Courteous concierge is on the ready to meet any request, and the hotel location is immediately in the heart of a bustling nightlife. Although 30 years old, it has been thoroughly remodeled and outfitted with all the latest creature comforts, handily positioning it on or above par with the surrounding luxury hotels.
Positives: Unique architecture, outstanding location for nightlife.
Negatives: It is virtually impossible to find the hotel lobby from the parking garage. No signage, Broken elevator from garage to ground floor.

We upgraded to a suite with 2 queens and the roominess and space was great. Hugh TV to watch in sitting area. Spacious bath and would definitely stay again in this part of Miami.
Positives: Location was great, room was large and spacious
Negatives: Could not get wireless Internet to work- bad deal.

Lovely hotel in center of shopping and restaurants in Coconut Grove- very serene and room was very large with hot tub on balcony shaded by bamboo from the street.
Positives: Serenity of the lobby and open air seating areas.
Negatives: Room was a bit musty smelling.

Excellent food at the Ginger Grove restaurant. The room was spacious and comfortable with a little hot tub out on the patio. Hotel staff was friendly and attentive. Currently there is construction going on across the street so that was an eye soar and somewhat noisy but that is not something the hotel has any control over so overall I would say this is wonderful place to stay.
Positives: Beautiful , comfortable beds, excellent food.
Negatives: Hard to find and construction across the street.

I stayed a week with my wife at this hotel. We were concerned with outside noise levels after reading several negative reviews. We requested a room on the quieter side of the hotel and was placed on the north side, which had a big wall that took away noise and sunlight. The service was fast and friendly. There was still some noise from neighbors though. Valet parking was expensive and we parked across the street in a public lot to save money. The rooms were big and equipped with LCD TV's. The location is pretty good with easy access to shops and restaurants.
Positives: Great location, big screen TV, good service.
Negatives: Expensive parking, noise from neighbors.

Lovely surroundings and convenient to the area we were visiting. the university of Miami. The staff was helpful and courteous. the valet parking was quick but costs 25.00 per night.
Positives: The Atriums natural flora and fauna setting was beautiful.
Negatives: The suite had a personal but the swimming pool was not open yet.

Rip-off for vacation travelers. No pool and no accommodation with another hotel to use their pool. Please refund
Positives: Nice room and location.
Negatives: Pool was closed for renovation. Not a four star hotel without a pool

Excellent hotel in the heart of the Grove. Beautiful decor unmatched in the area. The noise from adjacent bars and clubs is minimal and not enough to detract from your stay.
Positives: Excellent decor and soothing environment.
Negatives: Renovations in progress.

I was worried about staying in downtown Miami alone so opted for the Coral Gables area. This hotel has undergone a $40 million refurbishment. It is spotlessly clean, safe and in a fantastic location in Coconut Grove village. While the food in the restaurant was good, you are steps away from a dozen or so cheap restaurants and stores. I was staying alone for business, but felt perfectly safe wondering around the area. The concierge is wonderful and helped with specialist transportation needs. The also have a new spa which is lovely, although the roof-top pool and sundeck were not ready. This was a minor inconvenience though to be honest. At regular prices ($495 a night) this hotel is worth it.
Positives: Luxurious (personal hot tubs), clean, safe location. 10 minutes from downtown, great food and staff.
Negatives: Evening staff did not respond to requests at all, pool was not ready or sundeck although it was advertised.

Good location in the heart of Coconut Grove, with access to shopping and restaurants. Rooms are well appointed, with beautiful linens and snazzy bathrooms, tumbled marble tile, small TV, and Aveda toiletries. Rooms also have a microwave and refrigerator, which I found very useful. The few quibbles that I had about the place include the fact that I was never able to get the remote on the main, 42 in plasma TV to work, and the hotel staff did not seem to come and fix it after I requested it. The robe that was provided in the bathroom was quite threadbare, in contrast to the rest of the linens. I was thrilled with the accommodations.
Positives: Rooms are very well appointed.
Negatives: Public area renovations are not completed yet, TV didn't work well.
