Room was uncomfortably hot. You could not adjust temperature in room. Had to open windows to cool the room off. Then it was noisy and you could smell cigarette smoke from employees smoking outside under our window. Room was clean, great location, but would not stay here again.
Positives: Clean, staff was friendly and great location.
Negatives: Room was uncomfortably hot. Had to open windows to cool the room off.

We were pleasantly surprised at the accommodations. It's obvious that the building must have been an apartment building or dorm building at one time because there was a lot of closet space.
Positives: Room was large; staff was attentive; excellent location.
Negatives: Restaurant a little upscale for a casual visit.

Excellent hotel with helpful and friendly staff. Close to the action in Georgetown, only a short cab ride away.
Positives: The view.
Negatives: Needs better sign age to let you know its there and parking at the hotel is very expensive.

The location is excellent. East access to the subway,GWU, Watergate, river walk, and Kennedy Center. Beautiful neighborhood. Hotel staff accommodated us with upgrade since they did not have 2 beds available as reserved. King bed in suite worked fine for us. Suites are great with coffee beans, small stove, small refrigerator and microwave. Not too many restaurants in immediate area but we toured all day and just wanted to eat dinner in the room in the evening. There may be restaurants that we did not locate.
Positives: Courteous service, clean, well maintained.
Negatives: Breakfast at their restaurant.

This place gets no stars. When you consider the price, the outdated rooms, the lack of customer service and the great hotels in the area, this extended stay is horrible. The affiliation with the GWU name is unfortunate for the university. My mother "lost" her jewelry that was sitting on the night stand for two days. I called weekly for three months trying to speak to the AGM and GM, and they repeatedly said they were checking the key card log on the room door. They gave me a three week time frame for the results. Then, they ignored my calls after this three week time frame, apparently because they found something they didn't like or never did it at all. I still won't get a call back about this. The housekeepers or those with access keys are suspect.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Horrible customer service from the GM to desk staff.

For a quick overnight stay this property is conveniently located to the DC Metro, Georgetown, and GWU and Downtown/tourist areas of DC. However, it is not a full service hotel, dining options, other the adjacent Italian restaurant (which has its own limited hours/service) are blocks away. Staff was pleasant.
Positives: Location and staff.
Negatives: No/limited F&B service.

This is a great hotel if you're confident in your ability to get around a big city. The hotel itself is convenient to the metro and a 7-11 and convenient to the Kennedy Center and a short drive to Georgetown. The rooms were spacious and very clean (maid service was good) as well as warm. We were trying to save money and, with 2 kids, we were thrilled that the room had a microwave, refrigerator and stove top. The staff there is pretty apathetic but friendly (if they aren't inconvenienced) to your plights (missing paper, directions, etc) so you're kind of on your own there. Which was fine for us? We will definitely return to the GWU Inn and would recommend it to others as well.
Positives: Location, cleanliness, room (space and decor), price, full kitchen.
Negatives: Staff was apathetic.

The hotel is located on or near the George Washington University campus. It is located in a nice neighborhood within easy walking distance of many of dc's tourist spots and restaurants. The rooms were large with simple amenities. The bed was comfortable. There was free high speed internet access, which was very nice after some of the other places I stayed on this trip.
Positives: The rooms were of good size and free high speed internet.
Negatives: There was nothing that I disliked.

It was not a great hotel to stay in. Although the cost of the room was inexpensive, the price of other things, such as food, parking, etc. Were very highly priced. In other words, what you save on the cost of the room, you lose on the cost of other things.
Positives: Location was good.
Negatives: Price of food and parking.

The room was very nice; it has a nice bathroom kitchen, living room and bedroom. It was very clean and close to the metro. The only problem I had was that there was no blind. There was a clear drape but it did not keep the light out and people could see into the room.
Positives: The room was very nice, big, roomy and clean.
Negatives: The room did not have full blinds/drapes, there was only a clear drape over the window; it did not keep the light out and people could see the room.

The GWU Inn is a great little hotel tucked away on a quiet street off the GW University campus. It is less than a full block from the Foggy Bottom Metro, and in easy walking distance to the Watergate Complex and State Dept, and walk able to IMF, World Bank and even the White House area. Classic DC decor and the suites are nice with BR and bath off of the main living room/kitchenette. Free Wi-Fi. Friendly staff. Perfect home-away-from home while in Washington.
Positives: Suites were very nice; separate bedroom and kitchenette.
Negatives: No restaurant or room service.

Top of the line in all categories.
Positives: Clean and convenient.
Negatives: Location was great.

The location is good; valet is really slow I had to wait about 20 minutes for him. I read a lot of reviews about the hotel before I stayed there & they all seemed to be true (even after I decided to give the hotel the benefit of the doubt). The carpets are dirty and faded. The shower was horrible, worst shower I've had in my life. They tried to install some kind of new shower heads in a very outdated bathroom - it didn't work. The staff is friendly but clueless and very slow. It was an ok stay - I'd recommend something else.
Positives: Lots of towels, great comforter.
Negatives: The room was old, carpet was dirty and faded.

The hotel room was fine. It was a bit dated but comfortable for a short vacation. Coming from Virginia we drove, but this was a huge hassle because you have to valet (street parking is impossible unless you are available to move your car every two hours and try to find another parking spot). The location is in a nice quiet neighborhood within easy access to the Metro, the National Mall (about a 15-20 minute walk) and Georgetown (about a 25 minute walk). The entry driveway is one car wide and very tight. The hotel in general is small on the space factor.
Positives: It was in a nice quiet neighborhood within easy access to metro, Georgetown and national mall.
Negatives: The parking situation was horrendous. The narrow entry to 25 dollar valet is way pricey.

The overall experience was fine for a weekend stay; location was great for all the sites and places we wanted to go to. The room and hotel in general was just fine, my boyfriend and I had to sleep in separate beds because they could only accommodate us with two double beds which wasn't ideal.
Positives: Location was really great.
Negatives: Not many luxuries or extras.

Conveniently located to a metro station, making it a perfect spot to stay in dc.
Positives: Kitchenette was a plus!
Negatives: Walls were somewhat thin into adjacent room (could hear children).

Great location and good rooms, particularly for independent or extended stay travelers, since all rooms have at least a refrigerator and microwave. Mine had a kitchenette as well so I was able to breakfast in and could have easily prepared additional meals had my (two-night) stay been longer. No on-site gym, but free use of a near-by (six-minute walk) Room was large, bed and sofa were both comfortable.
Positives: Good size room, kitchenette, free high speed Internet.
Negatives: Only criticism would be lack of public spaces.

I was extremely surprised and pleased with my stay at this hotel. There were mixed reviews on the net but it absolutely surpassed my expectations. The biggest complaint is the $25/night valet. But if you stay over the weekend, there are plenty of convenient free off street parking spots. It is one short block from the foggy bottom metro and I would highly encourage anyone to use it.
Positives: All rooms are suites, even smallest rooms had separate hallway to bathroom.
Negatives: It's a little difficult to find initially and there are limited convenient parking options during the week.

Very nice stay. Highly recommended. Cheap and with all amenities, stones throw from metro.
Positives: Very good rooms with safe area.
Negatives: No smoking rooms.
