Kimpton George Hotel
Washington, District of Columbia
Kimpton George Hotel is a hotel located in Washington.
An avant garde choice of Washington dc area hotels. The Hotel George is the very first style conscious Capitol Hill hotel - bringing left wing design and right wing comfort together in perfect harmony. Originally built in 1928 the hotel has been dramatically re-sculpted to incorporate large expanses of glass stainless steel and fossilized coral stone - all within a traditional facade. With splashes of neo modern contemporary design elements to enhance the public spaces and guest rooms this unique boutique hotel is further complimented by a signature collection of modern artwork Bold design is a theme that permeates throughout the hotel. All guest rooms are steeped in a cool beige and cream color scheme that provides a residential feel to the interior. Our affiliate restaurant, Bistro Bis incorporates the same cunning craft for style. Located adjacent to the lobby, Bis offers creative classic French bistro fare in a profound contemporary setting.
Nearby restaurants include Taqueria Nacionale, Johnny's Half Shell, Panda's Rice Bowl, and Aditi Indian Kitchen.

Good central location...lots of one way streets so be prepared if you are driving here. Parking overnight here is expensive, should be included in the stay.
Positives: Convenient to museums and metro and train stations.
Negatives: Parking extra.

Nice hotel with a great location. Neighborhood off the beaten path, yet extremely close to Capitol and union station. Loved the location, room and staff. Kimpton is a great hotel business.
Positives: Great staff, good room.
Negatives: No swimming pool.

Small boutique hotel with limited public spaces. I heard the restaurant was very good but didn't try it.
Positives: Fantastic location next to Union Station/Metro. Very friendly staff.
Negatives: Not much in the way of views.

The rooms are clean and spacious. The restaurant and the entrance is very premium and the location of the hotel is good for touristic attractions
Positives: It is very contemporary and the rooms are clean and fancy.
Negatives: There is no convenient store close to 6 blocks walk.

Nice, but small lobby area. Rooms in the center of the building are narrow, had a hard time walking between the chair at the desk and the end of the bed. Nice bathroom, all white marble. View out the window was just walls of other buildings, not much privacy. Friendly staff. Other 4* hotels in this zone/area are better overall.
Positives: Walking distance to the Capital and Union Station.
Negatives: Awkward shaped room and no view out window.

The hotel is in a great location, 5 minutes walk from Union Station. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was spacious and even has a pull-out coach. Oh, they also have wine hour from 5pm to 6pm, free wine and homemade sangria. Great value for your money!
Positives: Friendly staff, great wine hour.
Negatives: N/A.

This was a great value at the deeply discounted price that I got through Priceline. I appreciated the business philosophy of this hotel -- marketing to a diverse population, kid and pet friendly etc. They treated me like a full paying customer even though I booked through Priceline.
Positives: Posh mattress, soft linens, nice chairs, quiet, good blinds, free internet.
Negatives: Hotel itself is in a good and convenient location, but walking towards Georgetown is a little dodgey, esp. at night.

The hotel is immaculately clean, which was very nice. I encountered several members of the staff from front desk personnel, bellman, to valets. Each one was friendly, respectful, and helpful. The front desk staff is extremely knowledgeable about DC in general. They all seemed to know the Metro routes like the backs of their hands! (The Metro stop is Union Station, only a block away!) The only real complaint I have is that the only on-site restaurant is their Bistro-Bis, which seems lovely but is also very pricy. We ate at the Capitol City Brewing Company, also a block away, which has good beer and burgers. We also ate at Union Station for breakfast and lunch. There is a large variety of nice, moderately priced restaurants inside, as well as a food court.
Positives: Each member of the staff I encountered was friendly and helpful.
Negatives: The only on-site restaurant was very expensive.

I loved staying there.
Positives: Luxury. Spacious rooms, bathtub, fancy linens and soaps, etc.
Negatives: Not much to walk to from hotel, but that's DC for you.

During my stay I found the hotel location to be nearby all of the major attractions of DC. The staff was very accommodating and quite friendly. The hotel was cleanly and had a very nice, yet expensive, restaurant conveniently located on the main level. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family looking for an upscale place to stay in DC.
Positives: The hotel was decorated in an upscale and contemporary manner with great staff.
Negatives: The view of my room was into the opposite side of the hotel.

Positives: Location, amenities.
Negatives: Parking $30 day.

The hotel is well maintained, the front desk manager was very friendly and helpful. The area surrounding this hotel is very iffy - lots of homeless people - not safe to walk around, especially for women.
Positives: Clean.
Negatives: Location is not very good.

Hotel staffs were more like actors playing the part of 4 5 star hotel staff. Rooms are ridiculously cramped, halls are fifty, elevator is scary, and refrigerator was not even mildly cold. Heater, made loud noises all night long.
Positives: Location, location, location.
Negatives: Just about everything else.

I have never slept in a hotel with as comfortable a bed in all my years of traveling! The room was attractive, although not large. The large, flat screen was excellent but I would have liked more channel choices. We stayed there to be near family but unfortunately there were few neighborhood/inexpensive services/stores. Great location for business travelers. Have several pleasant sitting areas.
Positives: Amazingly comfortable bed, excellent restaurant, considerate staff, great TV.
Negatives: Smallish room with only seating for one and no where to eat room service, few plain/healthy menu choices.

Loved hotel, but we did not get much sleep at night. Our room faced the alley and trucks were dumping garbage starting in the early morning. Also the parking was very expensive.
Positives: Gracious, beautiful, friendly, and well located.
Negatives: Our room facing outside and there was noise all night long from trucks.

The hotel itself was very contemporary and clean. We had a room on the 2nd floor, backside of the hotel. Very noisy! Garbage truck pickups awakened us around 6 a.m. every morning. Very noisy from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. They need to invest in better windows for sound control!
Positives: The staff was friendly and helpful. It was convenient to the capitol, Union Station and that area.
Negatives: Very noisy outside in the a.m. Could hear everything!

While our room was "cozy", it still was very comfortable. The lobby area is a great place to meet up with friends or clients. The look is fresh and new. It is just a block and a half from Union Station Metro, and I felt safe walking to it at night.
Positives: I loved being so close to Union Station. Also I thought the lobby was very trendy.
Negatives: Our room was in the back. Friday is garbage pickup - trucks were very loud at 4 am.
