Great location, easy access to Washington, DC Sites and the Metro. This is a dive hotel, very old and falling apart. If you only need a bed and a shower, that's what you will get.
Positives: Great location, easy access to Washington DC Sites and the Metro.
Negatives: This is a dive hotel, very old and falling apart. If you only need a bed and a shower, that's what you will get.

The location can't be beat, but it is low tourist class. Historic but not is a charming way.
Positives: Great location.
Negatives: Shabby.

Room was small and not well maintained.
Positives: Location was great for tourists to see DC.

This hotel was everything I expected it to be. That is to say it was nasty and skanky but very very nicely located. I do no regret my decision to stay here as I spent very little time in the hotel. It was basically a place to stash all my stuff and catch a couple hours sleep. It is a very well suited hotel for that.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Dirty. Old rundown.

The room was small and the air conditioning wasn't working, handle of shower was about to fall off. Bathroom was filthy (dust and hair), the electrical plug-ins did not hold the hairdryer or phone plugs, and there was no remote for the TV. However, surprisingly the bed was comfortable.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Dirty.

The hotel was quite good for the price. The location is just in the middle of all the cultural attractions - 10 min. walk to the national Mall, 15 - White House, Metro is quite close. Very good internet connection. The only thing I missed was a hair-dryer.
Positives: Excellent location, fast internet.
Negatives: No hair dryer in the room.

Clean modest old fashioned accommodations with acceptable beds in downtown Washington near many tourist sites.
Positives: Proximity to many tourist sites.
Negatives: Needs some minor repairs in room.

I know it is a old building and appreciate that but can still be kept clean and smelling good. Also the bathroom doors do not close.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Cleanliness and smell.

Overall, this hotel was super convenient. overall, this hotel suited my purposes since I was in meetings all day and the location was exceptional.
Positives: It has a great location!
Negatives: Cockroaches in the "business center" which was in the restaurant.

Location is excellent. Can walk to most nearby attractions or metro stations. Safety would be an issue if traveling alone. Hotel needs updating; especially carpeting without holes all over and new plumbing would not go a miss.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Old. Needs updating. Did not feel safe, especially with the warning on the room door dead bolt and chain for safety!

It's old and somewhat disheveled, but it's sort of quaint. The parking in the only qualm I had, it's 5 blocks away. I did not feel safe walking back to my hotel by myself, after parking my car late at night.
Positives: I liked the location, downtown DC, esp. For the price.
Negatives: I can't believe you have to park your car 5 blocks away and walk back to the hotel, at night, by yourself.

The one good point of this hotel was that it had a great location. The subway was close by but most of the things to see were within walking distance. There were a bunch of restaurants nearby, only one though that was open late and it was very expensive, so eat early. As for the bad points there were a few. From the moment you walk into the hotel you can tell that if it were not for the location the cost would be very low. The rooms had the appearance of being dirty. I did not want to walk barefoot in the room. The bathroom floor had mold on it and all the tiles were cracked. Overall it was too expensive for what it provided.
Positives: Great Location!
Negatives: Not very up to date/ had a dirty feeling.

The location and staff were great. The elevator, corridors, and rooms were dingy. The carpets, sheets, and blankets were quite worn and frayed. Surfaces were spotted with the stains of age and bits of dirt. The lights were dim. The bathroom was clean, but was too tiny for toiletries...
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Run down quality of room.

I would suggest a more exhaustive search of truly affordable hotels within safe walking distance of major museums. Though I expected fleabag, I was still irritated at the price for quality. My observation was that this was the most run-down building in the area.
Positives: Location within 4 blocks of primary destination museum was great.
Negatives: Heating and electrical problems, peeling paint, unpredictable shower water heat.

Hotel Harrington is a comfortable, quiet hotel in a great location. The architecture is fantastic and the staff is very helpful. It can suit nearly any purpose, and I would definitely stay again.
Positives: Historical architecture and quiet.
Negatives: The shower was not very modern, and temperature was hard to control.

The room requested was 'non-smoking¿; the room offered was a smoker room, very smelly. It was not clean, fingernail clippings on the floor for the entire stay, stains in the bathroom and stains on the beelines, even after it was pointed out they weren't changed. Being a hotel manager by one of my professions, the hotel certainly doesn't meet the stated standard.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Cleanness, staff approach, service.
Reviewer: Not provided on Thu 23 Nov 2006 rated 6 out of 10.
Old, musty and threadbare, but clean with a friendly staff and great location.
Positives: Good location, clean, friendly staff
Negatives: No hot water first day
