The lobby was loud and cold, the bartender didn't know how to make a martini or a Manhattan. The shrimp and avocado was delicious. The linens and bed were great, the easy chair was not easy. The woman at check in was less than pleasant. It felt like a scam to have to pay to park the car while we stayed overnight.
Positives: One of the waiters was very pleasant.
Negatives: The check in woman was very curt, plus we had to pay extra to park.

The hotel lived up to my expectations. I loved the new contemporary decor. I was truly excited to find the room & bathroom, especially, completely spotless. The beds were extremely comfortable with upscale linens - down (or down like) comforters & fluffy pillows.
Positives: The contemporary decor was appealing & I was especially pleased with the newness & cleanliness. Beds were very comfortable & nicely appointed.
Negatives: Front desk staff was hot & cold depending on who was on duty.

Reasonable hotel still in the process of being upgraded from lower star quality.
Positives: Listened to the customer's needs.
Negatives: Upgrade clearly not complete from former chain.

What made my experience less than good are easily fixable but they should never happen to a guest, who probably, like me, would be tired from traveling. First, my room card key did not work. A hassle after lugging/wheeling heavy bags somewhat of a distance from the lobby. I called the hotel three times from my cell. Endless ringing. I saw a house phone on my way to the elevator and called. Someone immediately came up and let me in. After showering and settling in, I wanted to recharge my electronics - phone, computer, earpeice. The outlets provided, configured as part of the desk were not working. UGH. Really annoying, again especially when you're tired and don't want to deal with calling someone and having them in your room. I did call. They came. They fixed it. My conclusion is that this sloppy care happens frequently. Therefore, I give them 2.5 stars. If these had not happended, I would give them 3 stars because the hotel is fairly dated. At least, I hope it's dated. I'd be more disappointed if they selected the current look recently! The staff, however, was good and accomodative.
Positives: The size of the room
Negatives: Non-working outlets

Great location, beautiful lobby. Attractive, if small, room. Very loud air conditioner. Concierge allowed us to park our station wagon with bikes on the roof right out front, since we couldn't fit in the garage.
Positives: Very close to the highway.
Negatives: The air conditioner in the room was very loud and cycled repeatedly.

This hotel will be beautiful when renovations are completed. However, our experience of the constant noise and inconvenience in the common areas was very disturbing. Had we known that the hotel was currently under construction we would have not stayed there and gladly paid a higher price! It was impossible to hold a conversation in the common areas much less get to enjoy visiting with family we hadn't seen in a year. I am shocked that this would occur in the U.S. We have encountered this in France on one occasion, but attributed it to their way of doing things. I am very angry that Holiday Inn/Sheraton would operate a hotel under these conditions. It is totally rude and inconsiderate of their guests!
Positives: The staff was very cordial and helpful.
Negatives: Renovations were taking place 24 hrs a day!

Positives: Clean, good looking, nice location.
Negatives: There is no refrigerator in the room and WIFI is very slow,

I stayed at this hotel many times a year and find it very good; hospitable; clean; and quiet.
Positives: The hotel quiet.
Negatives: The last time I was in this hotel I left behind my electric toothbrush. It was difficult to contact lost and found.

The hotel was very friendly and the wi-fi was good and easy to connect
Positives: The room seemed recently renovated.
Negatives: Details not attended to, not as clean as it could be and no refrigerator and no PBS on TV.

I would definitely consider staying again. Although I found it hard to find, it was in a convenient place. I was very concerned with possibility of bedbugs and found the room immaculate!
Positives: Clean. Glad restaurant open after 8 pm. Easy check-in and out. Available parking close to lobby. Shower worked great!
Negatives: Went in wrong elevator from parking garage. French Fries were not even warm. Couldn't lobby and restaurant lacked atmosphere.

If you are a heavy sleeper and looking for a great value in the Stamford, CT area this is the hotel for you. However, if you a traveler that is awoken by the slightest of noise this hotel is not for you. There is a fire house one block east of this hotel and you will hear the sirens at all hours of the day and night. I found the setting to be interesting as you are in the heart of the city, surrounded by skyscrapers and trendy up market stores and restaurants, and personally I am not bothered by sirens.
Positives: Very new and comfortable.
Negatives: Fire Station one block away.

This is an average business hotel no personality.
Positives: Convenient check in.
Negatives: The hotel is charging for parking.

Great place to stay if you want the look and feel of a New York City hotel without the big price. It is close to the Metro-North Train station and they have through trains into the city if you need to go to watch a Yankee game or just a visit.
Positives: Beautiful upgrade, close to metro-north.
Negatives: No shuttle service after 11:00 pm.

This hotel was neat and clean. The rooms were large and the attention of the staff was gracious. The only problem was that the group using the conference room off the lobby was unreasonably loud. Even the<BR/>manager said that he had complained about the noise. We had dinner in the bar area so that we could be as far from the noise as possible. It was still too loud. In the morning the group had moved to the lower level which was almost as bad because the lobby opens to the lower level.
Positives: Large & clean rooms.
Negatives: No bathtub in king rooms, noise travels in extended lobby area.

The hotel lobby is very modern, clean, and bright and airy with large, well-placed windows. We stayed at the Stamford Marriott and liked the hotel very much but it was so dark in the lobby and restaurant. The friendly staff at the Holiday Inn Stamford makes all the difference and we really felt and home and very well taken care of. The restaurant has the best breakfast buffet available and the best chef making omelets and eggs cooked to order. Our room was very spacious and the beds were so comfortable. The overnight night parking was reasonable and convenient. The van was an added bonus. We felt this was our home away from home. Wonderful stay.
Positives: Holiday Inn Stamford has become our favorite hotel. The staff is so welcoming and friendly and responsive to every need.
Negatives: There was not one thing we did not like.

The front desk personnel told me that the building engineers were working on the problem of no internet connectivity. They told my colleague the same thing two weeks prior.
Positives: Good room service.
Negatives: No internet connection available.

This hotel is newly renovated. We've stayed at the Marriott and Hilton in Stamford and these hotels offer larger rooms and better service.
Positives: Staff tried to accomodate our issues.
Negatives: It's not a 3.5 star.

Nice hotel, many rooms updated. But still a basic Holiday Inn - not at all comparable to the other 3.5 star hotels.
Positives: Friendly staff.
Negatives: Undeclared $10/night charge for parking.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. Appears it had recently been repapered and painted as I thought I could smell wallpaper paste in the room.
Positives: attractive rooms, comfortable bed and good restaurant
Negatives: smaller bathroom with tub shower instead of walk-in

As you walk into the lobby, it was very nice, even the lobby bathroom. The bar area was very upscale, staff very friendly, greet you with a smile. Love the design in the room, the bed was not so comfortable. Restaurant food was great, and kids ate free, (I had 4), so that was good, under 12 years old. The staff was friendly, very attentive to the kids. Wish the pool area was decorated better and bigger.
Positives: Lobby, up to date room, the bar, kids eat free.
Negatives: Tub was clogged.

This is a work in progress--obviously lots of repairs in lobby, garage, lower lobby, elevators. Still a long way to go. Rooms are very nice with good amenities.
Positives: Price was great - no parking charge.
Negatives: It's under construction, no workout facilities, elevators were damaged.
Reviewer: Not provided on Tue 19 Aug 2008 rated 8 out of 10.
Room was comfortable, modern, and clean, with nice furniture, a good bed, and a large flat screen TV. Free wireless internet in rooms, and plenty of workspace makes it convenient for business travelers. Staff was friendly and professional. When there was a small problem with the lock on my door, they quickly sent an engineer who worked hard until the problem was solved. An item I dropped in the hotel hallway was picked up by the cleaning staff and returned to me. I was honestly surprised by the improved quality of this hotel since they renovated.
Positives: Fantastic renovated rooms better than nearby 4 star competitors.
Negatives: Non-renovated facilities are run-down (garage, elevators).

We had a great stay at the Holiday Inn/Stamford. Everyone was friendly and the hotel will even be better when all the renovations are complete!
Positives: As we were renovating our bathroom, this was a very convenient place to stay.
Negatives: Under renovation - pool was at another hotel.

I was here for two separate visits in a week. The hotel public areas are currently in chaos as there is construction and remodeling going on. The parking garage stairway was full of dust and debris. One of the main elevators had garbage, paper and an empty cigarette pack on the floor that stayed there for a number of hours. The temporary quarters for the restaurant and bar were inadequate and not comfortable, but the staff were very good. At night there were a number of young guests partying in the hallways, and treating the hotel as a dormitory. At 1 AM it was very noisy on my floor with these guests singing, playing guitar, roaming around, and talking loudly in the hotel hallways! I called the front desk and they apologized and sent security, however the guests continued to slam doors and roam around for a while before finally going to their rooms. The front desk staff were definitely friendly and polite though, so no complaints about them. The newly remodeled rooms are modern, new bathroom design is attractive, although overall the rooms are a bit "cold" and clunky in design. The TV remotes in two different rooms did not work well at all. On one occasion no soap or shampoo was placed in the room and I needed to ask for these. I think that once the remodeling is over, and if they can work on the cleanliness and quality control of room maintenance, the experience here may improve.
Positives: Friendly Staff, Decent Room.
Negatives: Construction underway, partying guests in hallways.

Positives: Nice rooms.
Negatives: Under construction, most extras were closed.

The rooms were nice but there was no microwave or refrigerator, and did not like that you had to pay for parking even when the hotel was under construction.
Positives: The rooms were very nice, also the staff.
Negatives: I did not like that I had to pay to park at the hotel.
