We enjoyed the good beds and having a mini refrigerator in the room. In the lobby there were comfortable looking booths to watch TV and computers for our convenience.

Positives: In response to request for directions, the hotel clerk wrote out the directions and had them delivered to our room.
Negatives: There was no swimming pool.

Very nicely appointed with good room for working.
Positives: Great Downtown location on edge of Yale campus in interesting location close to lots of eating options.
Negatives: $15 for parking.

Would be a good hotel if not for noisy fan in bathroom which, when turned off by staff (client can't) turns off all climate control. Current construction is a problem. Front desk is not reachable by phone from guest room. Parking is $15 per night and there is no street parking.
Positives: Room size.
Negatives: Construction, loud fan in bathroom that cannot be turned off by guest, and when turned off by staff, also turns off all climate control.

Great hotel, the lobby was under renovation. I have stayed here twice and have been very satisfied each time.
Positives: Room was great.
Negatives: New haven is sketchy.

The staff is lazy and shirk responsibility at every hand possible. They weren't trying to rectify why my bathroom was completely unsanitary. It was grotesque on every level.
Positives: There's nothing I enjoyed about this hotel. A complete disappointment.
Negatives: The fact that black mold was growing on my shower lining in several places and stains on the outside of the shower curtain.

I've been staying there for a year on and off for work. I highly recommend it.
Positives: The staff is awesome.
Negatives: No restaurant.

Excellent location for Yale visitors, comfortable and pleasing rooms, refrigerator in room
Positives: Attractive rooms, locked front doors (access with key), proximity to restaurants and Yale U.
Negatives: Noise from street (many sirens passing by).

This hotel has become my favorite over the others in the area as it is updated and clean. Front desk always nice and helpful.
Positives: The rooms are sharp, well layed out and clean.
Negatives: Everything was good.

Nice lobby. Super rooms in the remodeled section. Average rooms in the old part.
Positives: Location
Negatives: There are two sections and we were in the older part this time.

Very nice hotel, with a location that can't be better for visitors to Yale University. The immediate area around the hotel is not particularly safe - but that's New Haven. Parking lot was nearly full, and did not make me feel safe about my car (unsupervised and too easy for potential crooks to vandalize cars or harm drivers). Difficult to get from parking lot into hotel--no elevator, must walk down or up stairs, or down middle of car ramp. This was just a Marriott Courtyard, but still pretty nice.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Parking was awkward - hard to get from parking into hotel.

I grew up in the area. Loved it. Will definitely stay there again.
Positives: Professional at all times.
Negatives: Stains on pillow cases and sheets though not big.

The location is in the heart of Yale, very upbeat, Mexican restaurants, pizza places, hamburger places, book store, Bon Pain, Popeye chicken across the street. It's a lively area. The room had a sitting area; I asked for a quiet section and was given an executive king suite with a sofa and desk. I wasn't told of their courtyard and was wishing I could sit outside not realizing that I could have done so.
Positives: Location, coffee/tea bar, refrigerator in room.
Negatives: No dinner or lunch service.

The hotel was convenient to Yale U. and the downtown area of NH. Nicely decorated and very comfortable rooms. I would recommend the hotel to others who are traveling through the city of NH.
Positives: Very comfortable bed!
Negatives: Location was just ok.

It is a very nice hotel. Very clean & the staff was very nice! Even though it was a Courtyard, usually for business, they accommodated my young, sick child. They put us on a floor, where there was not a lot of people. So, we could have our privacy, as well as the business folks could have their peace & quiet! :)
Positives: Great staff, very clean & close to my child's doctor's office!
Negatives: If you took a left, you were in the hood!

Walk to Yale College, shopping and restaurant within 10 minutes. Room is great. Parking $15 per night but is probably worth it due to security issue in the general neighborhood.
Positives: Close to Yale University. Great for college visit.
Negatives: New Haven has safety issue.

Free coffee was a great start, but no free breakfast provided. Parking is extra ($15) for the hotel's garage and you will need it because there is no street parking. Excellent location next to Yale University.
Positives: Excellent staff and provided us with a crib in less than 5 minutes after request.
Negatives: Size of rooms was a bit smaller than expected.

The staff at the front desk was friendly and very helpful at check in. The room was clean and well stocked with towels, toiletries and glasses. There was also complimentary bottled water.
Positives: It is located close to Yale Medical School.
Negatives: I had requested a shower cap on the morning of my departure and it hadn't been delivered by the time I checked out.
Reviewer: Not provided on Mon 08 Mar 2010 rated 8 out of 10.
The hotel and staff were overall excellent. I had a room on the street which was quite noisy. People yelled very loud in the middle of the night. Also, it was windy and the ropes from the flags made banging noises all night. I would definitely stay there again but would get a room off of the street and bring ear plugs.
Positives: The coffee.
Negatives: Only problem was terrible street noise and flag noise.

The Courtyard in downtown New Haven is in a good location for anyone needing a hotel close to the Yale Campus or with business in New Haven. However, the hotel itself has seen better days, both from a facilities point of view, as well as from a friendliness of staff perspective. For the same "standard" rate, there are definitely better locations in New Haven.
Positives: Good location in downtown New Haven.
Negatives: Out-of-date with unmotivated staff.

Staff was very helpful and efficient. Room was clean and updated. Only there for one night, but it was a pleasant stay. We were near the elevators so it was a little load at night, but not too bad.
Positives: Close to my son's apartment.
Negatives: Everything was fine.

The Courtyard By Marriott met my basic expectations and was well worth the bargain price that I got through Priceline Negotiator. The basic amenities provided by the hotel were sufficient, but I was not terribly impressed by the professionalism of the staff or the functionality of the hotel's technology. The housekeeping staff ignored my "do not disturb" sign two days in a row by knocking before 9AM. In another case, I heard an employee reprimand a housekeeper for working too slowly within earshot of guests. This did not reflect terribly well on the hotel staff's professionalism. I will say that the front desk clerks were friendly and helpful. Second, the wireless internet and cable television was not 100% functional, much to my annoyance.
Positives: close proximity to downtown New Haven and Yale.
Negatives: Inattentive staff and non-functioning wireless internet

Hotel situated in close proximity to nearby places to be in New Haven. Room had double bed, would have preferred king instead. Clean facility and good service. If not for construction activity, higher rating would have been in order.
Positives: Facility was well kept as were rooms.
Negatives: Construction activity left odor in hallways.

The hotel would be great if it were not in such a state of construction. Woke up to banging noises on <BR/>Sunday morning, and the hotel room smelled toxic. Like a new carpet.
Positives: The staff was friendly ,and helpful.
Negatives: Toxic smell in room due to construction. Banging noises on

Hotel is very nice and clean.
Positives: Nice room.
Negatives: Noisy, it's next to a very rowdy frat house.

Excellent service and very friendly. Clean.
Positives: Enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the business area.
Negatives: Somewhat noisy during the day- building on to hotel.

Negatives: Nothing.

Convenient to shopping and Yale, my wife and I enjoyed our stay. The staff was very friendly and there were no unexpected charges. Very clean. It is near the edge of the better part of New Haven, but it's New Haven - it's all a bit edgy.
Positives: Convenient location.
Negatives: Tight parking lot and near a shady part of town.

Great hotel. The bed was very comfortable and loved the choices of pillows provided; there was hard and firm pillows as well as soft and fluffy. The worst part of the room was the traffic noise, it was very bad. I was on the fourth floor and could hear the cars and their horns all night long, ask for a room, that doesn't face the street. I had the AC on in the hope the fan would drown out the noise but it didn't help at all. The maid coming into the room at 8 AM wasn't great but I had not put the do not disturb sign on the door.
Positives: Loved the beds and pillows, very comfortable.
Negatives: Noise from the street below.

The hotel was conveniently situated near Yale University. The lobby and room were very clean and pleasant. Desk people were friendly and efficient. Overall, our stay was very positive. I would recommend this hotel.
Positives: The room was very clean and comfortable. Furnishings were very attractive.
Negatives: There were only a couple of tissues in the tissue box.

Courtyard Marriott where I stayed the TV in my room was not working (upon asking the front desk, there were about 10 broken TVs in the hotel and there was nothing they could do about it), the coffee machine was broken (I was so disgusted.
Positives: The cleanliness in the room.
Negatives: Rude front desk manager and broken appliances in the room.

Very nice hotel; clean and comfortable; great staff; complimentary snack in room was a nice touch; would definitely stay again.
Positives: Everything.
Negatives: Nothing.

I stayed for one night at the Courtyard and had a pleasant stay. The room was standard, if slightly small. Parking was quite expensive (13$ with taxes) but is limited in the area so this may be typical. They appear to be doing renovations to the outside areas and some of the rooms, which caused some noise and debris. Overall, a stay that met my expectations.
Positives: Friendly staff even paid for my cab to an interview.
Negatives: Parking charges! Under renovation and the area of town has a gritty feel.

Positives: Convenient to Downtown.
Negatives: Parking fee.

For the price, the property is a very good value.
Positives: The staff was friendly, pleasant and professional!
Negatives: Parking lot is somewhat difficult to Navigate.

All in all, this was a good hotel visit. We did not feel secure in the garage as anyone at anytime could walk in. Furthermore, the narrow entrance into the garage made it difficult to enter (we scraped up our car). Nice staff. Rooms were good but need more attention to cleanliness. Plenty of nearby restaurants.
Positives: Friendly staff, nice rooms.
Negatives: Garage needs security & better design. Need pool.

Long wait to check in and the receptionist tried to convince me that parking meters were enforced on Thanksgiving day. If you find people like this entertaining, this place is not too bad. Overall, this location is not up to the standards of Marriott.
Positives: Convenient location.
Negatives: Parking - expensive and inconvenient.
Reviewer: Not provided on Sun 04 Nov 2007 rated 9 out of 10.
Everything is good but the parking cost. Should not complain due to great price on hotel, but don't like being surprised with additional costs.
Positives: Clean, good for business.
Negatives: Parking cost.
