The hotel Howard Johnson went beyond my expectations. The breakfast buffet and happy Hour were courtesy of the hotel, never seen in any other. The ambiance and furniture of the rooms were very nice. The staff was very friendly. Well I am a regular traveler and we visited many hotels and paid much more expensive rates for what we were offered. This hotel is A+++++++.
Positives: I loved the location, cleanliness, very friendly staff and nice rooms!
Negatives: NA

The rooms need some real maintenance and some real cleaning. Could not even use the coffee maker after seeing mold and 2-year old coffee stains inside the water reservoir. The blanket on the bed was very worn looking. We prayed it was clean. The carpeting was suspect for not being clean so I pulled out my flip flops so I would never expose bare feet to the flooring. I would have felt better if the bathtub looked cleaner. One night was more than enough in this dump.
Positives: Wireless internet.
Negatives: Everything else.

Poor location, ambiance of the motel is outdated.

Positives: Nothing.

Very good.
Positives: It was a very nice room and we enjoyed our stay.
Negatives: The person who checked us in was watching TV and never said a word about the hotel to us.

Great location. Pool and spa with free Wednesday. Night BBQ was great.
Positives: Happy hour, pool and hot tub on the desert at 11:00 am was great.
Negatives: No complaints.

With all the new hotels that popped up in Yuma in the last few months, this hotel better upgrade/refurbish or it will lose to all the newer competition.
Positives: Easy access & exit from street.
Negatives: Seems very old, hotel needs refurbishing.

The first 2 days the shower was clogged and it took then until the last day to clean. The chair in the room had stains all over it. I never touched it. It was a bad poor experience.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: It is dirty, old and dingy.

It looks like they were doing some renovation of the hotel. It would be best to start with some beds, they were as hard as rocks. The continental breakfast was more than I expected, which is very good. Pleased with the experience, did not expect as much.
Positives: Like the waffle maker more than I expected.
Negatives: Drabby appearance hard beds.

Negatives: Facilities needed upkeep.

I was displease that when I said there would be two travelers including a 17 year old son, that I was only offered one bed.
Positives: Location of where I needed to be.
Negatives: Old and outdated and surrounded by concrete.

Very convenient, close to the only mall. Beds were comfortable. Close to the marine base if you have family there. Not very safe, seems to have people living there not just staying there. Also they have a very late check in (3 p.m.) and a very early check out (10 a.m.).
Positives: The beds were comfortable and it was clean.
Negatives: Was not very safe, seems there were people living there not just staying there for a layover.

The hotel had some good things to offer, free barbeque and happy hour, stores and restaurants close by.
Positives: I liked the location, there are plenty of places to walk easily.
Negatives: I didn't like that it was described as a 2 star hotel.

Clean, efficient for overnight stay, but feels cheap, white walls, unattractive decorations, not as close to freeway as expected, would not stay again.
Positives: Friendly staff cleans.
Negatives: Old, lacked any ambiance, dumpy.

Overall, the room was ok. But my mother became very sick (COPD patient) and I had to rush her home, even though I paid for 2 nights.
Positives: The staff was very nice.
Negatives: People smoking outside their rooms; couldn't leave the door open.

It was adequate for the eleven hours we were there. They did not have a crib available for our baby, so that was a huge pain, and a sketchy, 70's style high chair for dining. The walls were thin, so we could hear the TV in the next room, but it had a fridge and microwave in our room which was a huge bonus! The room served our purposes well, but probably would look for something a little nicer if we were staying long.
Positives: Continental breakfast was great with many selections.
Negatives: Accessing our room was very inconvenient. Up the stairs, across the lobby, through two doors and down a balcony.

The poor parking available at this facility (parallel parking only on my side of the motel) caused my car to be damaged during my brief stay. A truck backed into my car, leaving a trailer-hitch-sized hole in my front fiberglass bumper. Will cost hundreds to fix! Also the motel was VERY hard to find due to a mailbox-sized sign being only hint the hotel is on the street. I had to phone for directions three times.
Positives: Good kitchen amenities, big shower.
Negatives: Bad signage and terrible parking facilities.

It is an older hotel that has changed management (the pool rules sign used to read Holiday Inn). In some ways you could tell it was older (the painted/worn hot tub and doors that open to the outside). My husband and I were very pleasantly surprised, though, with the hotel over all. The lobby was big and comfortable with a computer for internet and a TV. The pool was warm. The hot tub was a good temperature, but the jets weren't good. Turning them on bubbles half the water out of it. The free drinks at happy hour were a welcome treat, and the one week-night we were there, we enjoyed the dinner-hot dogs/hamburgers/watermelon/chips (nothing extravagant, but it saved us from going out and buying food. Breakfast included bagels, toast, waffles, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, cereals and donuts. We were able to get a crib for our 11 month old. The only real mar on cleanliness was some glass on the stairs that they took a while to clean up. The room smelled a bit like smoke at first, but after a while, I didn't notice it. Overall, I think it's a great place when you're on a budget!
Positives: Nice breakfast and happy hour (dinner on weekdays).
Negatives: Happy hour depended on if they could get someone to come in and pour drinks we had it 2/3 nights.

Nice for the business traveler.
Positives: Convenient.
Negatives: The room was small.

The staff was quite uninterested in me as a guest. One day they never cleaned the room or replenished any of the essentials, I had to go to the desk and ask for coffee packs and shampoo. The mattresses are old, saggy & hard.
Positives: Not much, the breakfast was good & plentiful though.
Negatives: Dirty common areas, ho-hum attitude of staff.

Very friendly, nice grounds. The bathroom could use an upgrade but everything was clean and tidy. Some maintenance work could be used on the outside, i.e., screens, door painting. All appliances worked. Good value for what we paid.
Positives: Excellent lobby/breakfast area/happy hour.
Negatives: Hi speed internet not working, TV limited.
