Would recommend to others who are looking for pampering and attention to detail.
Positives: Overall ambiance and views from the hotel, especially in the evening hours.
Negatives: Self parking for the money was a hike to the room.

We love this resort! The resort is surrounded by a sea of giant saguaro cactus. The property is stunning. We loved that the restaurant Primo had happy hour each evening. The kids loved the lazy river pool. Last year I had spa treatments there and it was incredible. This place is wonderful.
Positives: The setting is spectacular.
Negatives: The area of town is not the best.

The facilities are nice but not well planned out. The restaurants can't handle the number of guests and it is a long way to drive to town to eat. We ended up scrounging chairs and tables in order to eat in the lounge. Very inconvenient. The rooms are nice but nothing to write home about. The lazy river and slide were fun, especially for my six year old grandson. The holiday fireworks were awesome--some of the best I've seen anywhere.
Positives: Water slide and fireworks.
Negatives: Restaurants overcrowded or unavailable. Air mattress (in lieu of rollaway) leaked. Charge for parking.

We had a room on the 6th floor and the scenery is just beautiful. The pillow and bed are plush although the carpet needs more padding underneath. The resort look like it was carved out of the mountain and desert. The streets are very dark since there are no streetlights and you can see the stars clearly in the sky. We enjoyed the 2 pools, Jacuzzi and lazy river. The lazy river is not long but there's a small slide for kids. There's no life guards on duty and you're supposed to swim with a buddy. Not a problem since I won't let my kids swim alone anyway. Very nice and we will definitely stay here again.
Positives: Scenery, very quiet and isolated, 24-hour pool, Starbucks.
Negatives: Some insects in bathtub.

It was a good experience with the exception of a faulty room door and a lot of bugs in the room. There are no screens on the windows and I think the cleaning people must open the sliding door so there were lots of moths, random bugs, etc. in the room and in the bed. There are also a lot of flies in the eating areas but the resort is in a largely undeveloped area, so you have to expect a little bit of nature. Nice robes in the room and the beds were heavenly.
Positives: Free Hibiscus Tea in lobby and good toiletries in the room.
Negatives: Room door looked like it shut completely but it didn't. Anyone could come in after we left if we didn't pull it shut.

I live in Tucson and the resort is in Tucson. Although my son and I took a mini-vacation at the resort, it felt like we were out of town. I needed a change of scenery and this place did the trick. We will go back some time. The hotel, staff, restaurants etc. were all wonderful. Very comfortable beds and pillows!
Positives: Everything! Beautiful, fun, relaxing. Loved the pools, lazy river, slides, views.
Negatives: The only thing I disliked was the self parking situation. It was not easily accessible - far walk-not enough spaces.

Overall the resort is okay, it was fine for our family. We stayed mainly in the pool area. I don't think the resort is amazing and we won't go back. There was no lasting impression. The resort is not really family friendly although my 8 year old and 10 month old had a good time. Hope this helps.
Positives: The pool areas are very nice for families.
Negatives: Parking is far away if one does not take valet, they do not have a shuttle.

The hotel was very comfortable. The staff very pleasant and friendly. The setting is incredible. The pool was very nice. Self parking was too far to be charged $10 per night. We first got a room with a balcony, but the height of the wall of that balcony is so high that if you are seated on the balcony you are staring at a wall. Unless you get a suite, the balconies are not worth an up charge. Overall, the hotel is very beautiful and a great place to stay in Tucson.
Positives: Pool areas were very nice and that they were open late.
Negatives: Self park was too far for being charged ten dollars.

The hotel was very family oriented. The water park was great for the kids they loved it. The room was standard but clean. Great entertainment for 4th of July weekend!
Positives: Hotel was very clean and workers were pleasant.
Negatives: Everything was good just a few to many bugs in the water slide area.

Very nice hotel but lots of interstate construction, hard to get to. Parking garage is very far. The restaurants are expensive don't eat at the hotel. Coffee was horrible, even starbucks was bad. Had a nice balcony with a good view of mountains and the city. The pool was awesome, hardly anyone there so we had the pool area to ourselves most of the time. Nice slide good for younger kids water was only 3' deep.
Positives: Swimming pools.
Negatives: Parking was far, dining was very expensive.

The place has huge potential but does not have its staff act together. Actually outright rude some of the staff members. Food very mediocre.
Positives: Location, hiking trails.
Negatives: Sanity staff, big time attitude, poor food, expensive self parking.

It's a bit bland. Yes it's pretty, but it looks like every other convention hotel. The rooms were nicely appointed until we found thousands of bugs in the tub. Later we found the same bugs on one of the beds and on the wall. We were promptly moved to a room right above the outdoor fire pit area where every parties at night and got no sleep. The beds were very uncomfortable and the night was not a restful one. The pools are alright, but again, very bland. Not a lot of trees or even saguaro for that matter, and no shade except if you get lucky enough to land an umbrella. And the pools are separated from the bar and restrooms were far, which is a good indication of where the kids are probably going all in all I wouldn't return.
Positives: The views were nice.
Negatives: Staying above the fire pit location. .

The front desk were unhelpful but the customer service rep was tops! This hotel simply missed it. Beautiful place which looks like a Las Vegas casino.
Positives: The setting is beautiful. The rooms lovely.
Negatives: The building is ugly. Parking is poor.

The room was very clean. However, it is just a standard hotel room with upgraded furniture and linens. They want you to stay on the property and it can be expensive if you start eating all your meals there. We had a sandwich and salad for lunch that cost $50.
Positives: Very beautiful setting. Rooms felt very clean.
Negatives: Had to pay for parking, phone, and TV.

Beautiful desert resort with plenty of amenities, pool, restaurants, spa, etc. They've finally solved parking problems by allowing guest parking in a garage adjacent to the resort rather than having people bus in from a remote parking lot. Great hiking nearby. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. We didn't golf though the course looked inviting.
Positives: Lovely property in a beautiful desert setting.
Negatives: The room we were given was located far away from the rest of the hotel.

This is absolutely the most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed at. The staff was actually helpful and went out of their way to make me feel like a VIP. The atmosphere was outstanding, the food was superb, the service was competent and the rooms (and the view) were truly relaxing.
Positives: Luxurious, spacious I think I could live here!
Negatives: No free internet, breakfast or paper.
Reviewer: Not provided on Fri 18 Apr 2008 rated 8 out of 10.
Wonderful location, good atmosphere, self parking was a relatively long way from the rooms. I feel that there should not be an additional charge for internet, not for self parking. To nickel and dime these items leaves one with a bad taste in their mouth.
Positives: Great location.
Negatives: Having to pay for internet & Parking!

J.W. Marriot is a very nice resort, great for relaxing by the pool or in your room or spa. Plenty of activities during the day if you want to hike horse back ride. However the concern I have is that you are so far away from any activities in the city, I would like to see perhaps a lounge with pool table or dance floor some sort of activity at night, but if your looking to sit in front of a fire with a great view of the lights of Tucson below you and just relax this is perfect. Also ask for a room that's not on the very back of the hotel on the first floor, otherwise you will walk onto your "balcony" and read a sign that says warning snake and wild life habitat.
Positives: The views of the hotel itself were great, very warm and inviting
Negatives: I did not like the location of our room first floor next to snake habitat.

The place is awesome and we had two rooms because we took our in-laws who are from NY. They absolutely loved the place.
Positives: Bar, food.
Negatives: Can't think of a thing.
